With that kind of moula it's definitely possible. I've visited guys out there with very minimalist houses. It's a rough life but doable.

Not bring a dick but you don't appear rugged enough to handle it.

There is duck hunting out there but not as prolific as here. Swan lake. Check it out. Trumpeter swan breeding ground.

That's probably true. I am somewhat naive and don't know what ranching entails. But it's the freedom of knowing you aren't tied down and can quit at any time with little repercussions. It's like working here and there during retirement. You are free

No that's fair criticism. I don't know enough about that life to know if I could swing it. It's all unicorns and fairies until you realize you gotta take a step backwards in civilization.

There would have to be some plan or progression for doing it. Like learning elements of farming and survivalist skills.

I love the idea of it more than what it takes to actually do it.

Great plan. If you have a boat give it to me. They use funky boats up there and you won't need any Louisiana style boat.

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters...

I've always wanted to have a get-away camp in either Montana, Wyoming, or Idaho. Seems so secluded from everything

Not to bust the bubble, but that can be done in Louisiana also.

It just requires so much separation from the "standard" life to take advantage of it. It'd be nice to have that, but also very frustrating to never get to be there for more than a week at a time unless you were retired.

I want to do that here. Move to my hunting land on the Ouachita. May do it sooner than later. Bout to start work on my cabin. Then if it sucks, I can just come home.

We stayed in this little town called gardiner. It was awesome. I felt like the 1950s. Saddle shop. Coffee/ice cream/ pharmacy. Haha it was heaven to me

The freedom from the rat race can definitely be done anywhere. But there's something about be in the middle of the frontier and seclusion. It forces you to be be independent as opposed to living on a house boat in the swamps of LA where you know a big city is just Two hours away max and family and friends will have easy access to you.

Montana is just too damn pretty

Yes it is. Plus I find the high altitude gives me more energy and you don't sweat your balls off year round.
