The -10 degree winters is the only thing that sucks about montana
Well that and -10 degree winters puts a mighty rough look on the women

I you are looking for property. Be careful that you have water rights. Wells are expensive to drill and not always 100%. And you would need the rights/permit to drill most likely. When you see 20 acres for sale for 30k that most likely has no utilities and not much chance of getting them.
With all the public land available I would look into a small town that I liked and just get a small house. You will have endless access to public hunting, fishing, and any outdoor activity you want.
Most of the towns there were like stated in another post. It feels like 30 years ago sometimes.

Winters were great. Until it gets to -20 its not that bad. Cold summers and winter in June is what gets to people.
And the women are rough. No way to get around that.

Western slope of the Rockies is fairly mild and not nearly as cold as many think. I've got friends in Kalispell and it's surprisingly mild.
Awesome Western State climate inforation. Click on a state and it gives you reporting centers

But if you like women and are single. Stay in the south until your dick stops working. Then retire and move
Now that i think about it. My waitress up there was real cute in gardiner. But she also was from europe on some kind of exchange program thing

Camped in that area on my way to Alaska, when I moved here, in Northern Wy.
Eastern Montana is flat or rolling prairie, nothing special about it. Western MT is awesome.

Sonds good but, I couldn't imaging spending the winters there. beach condo in Florida would be good for the cold season.

Eh, I've never found a shortage of good looking women anywhere. Western women tend to be more active, age better and are less high maintenance.

age better
Could be true in Alaska but in the Southwest most of what I have seen looked a little leathery. I am guessing the low humidity dries out their skin.
Chicks there also seem to have an aversion to makeup.

Do they have mosquitoes?
No
The worst mosquitoes I've ever seen were in Montana. It was eastern Montana along the Missouri River, though. Still, they can have plenty of them in the Rockies. It's no reason not to move there, mosquitoes are everywhere that has water.
BTW the original post sounds a lot like Ted Kaczynski's goal when he moved out to Montana. I happened to watch a History Channel show on him this afternoon. His cabin and land was cheap. Rather than spend a lot of money to have a ranch/farm the easiest would be to go cheap with the land/cabin and use the money saved to buy inexpensive food. Then you can hunt/fish as desired but are not really tied down with your food production.

I don't necessarily see this as a problem as I dig women who look good naturally. Lower maintenance and age better.

just got back from bozeman and i am packing my bags to move. I need to tell mrs cracker this.
I was chatting with this kid in a bar and he said "I can ski play golf and fish in the same day and if i wanted to be a prick i could hunt also but that would be pushing it."

they have a pretty good football team this year, went to a game about 15k students now, i bout a car there flew up drove it back set up a LLC in montana to title the car no sales tax saved 2300 bucks less the fees and gas i still saved over 1000 bucks. Western Montana is Manifest Destiny. Hunting is incredible trout fishing is the best in the country. no sales tax.
Another funny nice trait those people have, free busses all over town I rode a bus close to the dealership I had to walk a few blocks, the bus driver cold tell I was not from there he has his route so if I needed to get on the bus I would go back to the bus stop & wait, but he asked "do you need me to pick you back up?"
When I bought my car I took my checkbook figured we would call the bank transfer money guarantee funds etc for a 30k dollar truck nope the finance guy said a personal check was fine I could go on & on those people are like the old south contracts are your word & handshake. Amazing place & people.

I'm talking about working for 15 more years and getting about $1 million dollars saved up. Buying some property in Montana in the mountains and building a small cabin. Live a minimalist life. No computers. No cable or tv. Have a garden and livestock. Maybe work a menial job like ranching or helping with a farm on the side. Something easy and flexible to pass the time. Hunt and fish for sustenence as well. Enjoy outdoors and live the life. Read and write. Hang out with locals. How feasible is this? Am I speaking delusions of grandeur?
You watched Mountain Men last night, didn't you?
This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time now. Wife said we would get divorced if ever did this. LOL
