was he too pigeonholed as Luke?

Big time. With such iconic films, it's not surprising.

Carrie Fisher did some limited, decent stuff later but it seems only Harrison Ford could credibly be seen as someone other than his Star Wars' character.

Didn't actually tear up, but was moved

I liked it. And yes, it was a bad day for the Redshirts.

Reminds me a little of Return of the Archons, and to a lesser extent, I, Mudd, where a supposedly idealic existence comes at the price of lack of real freedom. They all seemed to have some Cold War overtones.
Watched Legend today and the opening is pretty cool and really grabs your attention.

First one that comes to mind for me is Star Wars Episode IV. The gigantic Empire ship filling the screen while chasing the Rebel ship, and then not too long afterward having Darth appear. I was mesmerized the first time I saw it.
Hate is too strong a word, but I'm not a fan by any stretch.

Wear Bama gear wherever you go
Cool comparisons. I must've been thinking of Requiem where this portion was on the bottom.

God, so many come to mind. I'm sure I'm leaving some classics out, but off the top of my head now, I'd say:

Godfather 1 & 2 (I consider them as one)
Star Wars, episodes IV, V (same)
Planet of the Apes (1968)
2001: A Space Odyssey
Alien/Aliens (same)
The Thing (1982)
Patton
Shawshank Redemption
Braveheart
Silence of the Lambs

FIFY - And I agree
Excellent movie. But, yes, tough to watch.

I seem to recall a story of a holocaust survivor visiting the set, and after seeing Ralph Fiennes play Amon Goeth so well, she said she actually felt afraid in front of him in uniform.

Sad. Just sad. Leave. It. Alone.

What is VGer?

As Ace said, V'Ger was the transformed Earth probe Voyager 6 from Star Trek The Motion Picture. Its nameplate was damaged to where it appeared to be named named V'Ger.

Like Nomad, its altered mission turned it into an incredibly destructive force.

Couldn't agree more - these simple acts are not done nearly enough.
sounds like a damn gunshot

How's the bass fishing? Last time I was out there (several years ago) it was pretty tough.

Also went several times several years ago and to say it was tough is putting it mildly. I'll never go back (at least for Bass) unless something's drastically changed.
