Yep, folks gotta get out and see this country (and continent) for themselves. Photos and videos are insufficient.

What part of town? Valley or Downtown? Downtown, Triangle Club, The Viking, TK McGuires, Hanger on the Wharf. In the Valley, Marlentinis.

What are you doing in Juneau?

My flight gets in just after 10am so whatever is closest to Douglas island (downtown or valley?) since its an 11:30 kickoff local time.

Going up for the weekend with a buddy. Had some FFM to burn and always wanted to see the city.

Might try the Island Pub downtown Douglas, if you will be hanging out in that community.. I live on Douglas, just the North part of the island.

Downtown has more restaurants and pubs. You'll probably have to request the LSU game. Weather will be shitty this weekend most likely.

The airport is on Douglas, right? I was a little upset when I saw the weather for the weekend. Shouldn't be too hard to get since its on CBS. Thanks for the suggestions.

Nah, Airport is near the Valley. It's only about 10 miles from the valley to downtown though.

Hanger on the Wharf is a cool place. May try there plus it has a really great waterfront view downtown. They also have an ungodly amount of beers available, and a great menu.

Hanger

It will rain, mountains may be obscured but don't let that get in the way of checking out the Mendenhall, should still be bears chasing salmon there.

Great, thanks again. I can't wait to get up there.

It's a neat place, kind of spread out. Hope you enjoy it, unfortunately fall weather is usually pretty cloudy and rainy.

Last cruise ship was today so the town will not be crowded. Not a bad time to be here IMO. Watch for bears.

That's great to hear. The cruise ships not the bears.

Yeah, bad part is many of the tourist attractions (including the tram, which is a cool way to see Mt. Roberts and hike the ridges) are closed.

Steep Creek at the Mendenhall Glacier is a great place to see bears. There were some still out there this week, and there are still sockeye salmon in the stream. No tourists so you'll have the place to yourself.

Just be sure to dodge that bullet Vasili.

But honestly Montana is beautiful country, it just looks cold as balls to me (was there in the summer). Having a cabin and some land out in the middle of nowhere Montana sounds awesome though.

I know a pharmacist that did this in Idaho. His advice is to just do it. Don't wait. Just go. Dude has a place in the mountains, has killed some humongous elk and whatnot. Living the life. Didn't have much when he went up there. Lives modestly now although as a pharmacist it's not hard to find a real job when you want it.

Damn, was debating as to whether or not to apply for a job at Montana State, in Bozeman, well y'all have convinced me to do it. Those pictures are amazing.

Watch 'The Art of Flight'

Travis Rice narrates and opens the video by saying that too many people live through the experiences of others.

Everything has gone digital. Many of our friends are now virtual.

His point is that you have to experience this earth yourself to gain the best understanding of our surroundings.

Nevertheless, the movie has insane HD footage of AK, Jackson Hole WY and many places in between.

This is on PBS?

I read that it was on Netflix, but I haven't seen it on PBS.

I've seen parts of it. They shoot a lot of heliskiing vids in this area. Chilkat Mts and Juneau Icefield are two of the best places for heliskiing.

This was filmed in JNU. Vid quality sucks on the reproduction bit it's pretty awesome skiing and scenery.

Aurora Projekt.

Even though my moms a pain in the arse, I'm so grateful to her for fearlessness to go anywhere and has the want to see everything. Don't have her $, but I do what I can to experience life to the fullest. I like to be the story teller, not the listener.

By the time I was 16 I saw/did more than a lot of people do in their entire life.
