An orange tag on both ears. Looks like an old 8 pt.

What does it mean? Anyone ever seen one tagged like this? Who tags like that?

Probably high fence escapee. Or a young one from a breeder program.

Bust him. Leave the tags in for the mount.

High fence escapee.
Breeder buck some neighbor turned loose.
Pet of the guy who lives up at the top of the road.

No real way to tell outside of ground checking him.

Where are you located?

Could also be university or wildlife agency research, perhaps a mark-recapture study.

He is having problems with gender association, he is a boy, but kinda wants to be a girl so he is taking baby steps by wearing ear rings. Just to see how it makes him feel. He didn't think he would get caught on camera wearing them, though.

from a safety standpoint orange should never be associated with game, it could set up for a huge accident, word gets out that there is a nice buck running around with orange tags in his ears, an inexperienced hunter, a careless hunter, a drunk person with a gun sees a flash of orange and shoots, and now someones son is dead

I have it on good authority that printed on said tags there is a kick arse venison stew recipe.

My lease is in Caldwell Parish and there is a LDWF Biologist on our lease. Last year he had some pics of some and he said they are part of some study. There is a number that you are supposed to call in when you kill them. I think they ask you to send in the jawbone or something. I'll ask him again what the scoop is.

ETA: He said you should notify the Caldwell Parish biologist which is out of the LDWF Monroe office.

This is a good point. What a stupid idea to use orange tags.

My nephew shot a doe with a yellow tag in its ear. It was tagged by a MS biologist.
