Apparently all of you complaining about the thin fried aren’t aware Middendorf’s have a thick fried catfish as well .

Yea, I don’t get it. They have regular fillets if you don’t want the thin ones. I can tear up some Middendorfs.

But the GOAT fried catfish fillets comes from the Rayville ballpark.

Any of you Mississippi people ever ate at Mr Whiskers? I think it’s in the McComb area.

They do, but all you hear about is how good the thin fried is

It's good hangover food coming back from New Orleans

the damned viet cong shite pond knockoff catfish

That would be "Swai" or "Basa".

Asian catfish

Worked a job in China a few years ago and got to see one of their fish "farms". Very enlightening.

Hogs in raised pens ... geese/ducks on the ground below the hogs ... then the geese/ducks swimming in the fish pond.....so hogs eat then crap, ducks eat the grain out of the hog crap, ducks crap in the pond.....fish get fat.

1. Catfish Cabin - Monroe
2. Catfish Charlie - Monroe
3. Tunks - Alexandria
4. Warehouse - Monroe
5. Scott’s Catfish - Ruston
6. Port-Au-Prince - Homer
7. Freddie Cassio - Monroe (the one with the seafood topping)
8. Tallulah Country Club - Tallulah (fundraiser golf event - it may have been the beer)
9. Fish House - Sterlington
10. Bayou DeSiard Country Club - Monroe

I would put David Breard’s Catfish King on the list - their whole Catfish is money but the fillets are garbage.

Sea and Sirloin....Lakewood Inn.

Brings back some old memories of Catfish Bend (just south of Coushatta - between Hanna and Lake End)

The fillets at the Farmers Classic are fantastic. David Beard’s catfish king is awful.

Not well know, but port au prince on Lake Claiborne in homer, LA is by far the best fried catfish I’ve ever eaten. It’s been ran by the same family since the late 50s or early 60s

solid list... haven't eaten at all of them but several.
I'd have Port-Au_Prince #1 though.

Middendorfs is crap. Thin fried catfish is nothing but grease It is the most overrated food in the state

I'll add it lacks any semblance of seasoning. Ate there once to see what all the fuss was about and came away totally unimpressed. If I have to add salt, pepper and hot sauce to your fried catfish (and I don't care how thin or thick it is), I'm not coming back.

Tried Sparh's in Des Allemand once too. While it was fried well and I liked the batter, it just had no seasoning to me. I've been back many times since but it was only for a bloody mary while passing through.

And to answer an earlier question about the Sparh's in Thibodaux, yes it's the same people. Never tried their catfish because of my first experience but their bloody marys are also very good.
