After living in Virginia for the last 12 years, I can say without a doubt that the best catfish I have ever eaten is in Louisiana. I can say that about all seafood as well. The seafood up here is Maryland style and SUCKS! See Captain Ds

Back in 80s all the seafood I had in va beach and Hampton roads was top notch

shite, ops? Most places serve the damned viet cong shite pond knockoff catfish now a days. On edit, Jan's in Shreveport is pretty good. Sand bar in Vidalia used to be good but it changed names a few years back and I haven't been since.

Brings back memories. I got my start as a young cull buck battering the catfish and shrimp at Jarrell’s on 139 circa 92ish as a 14 year old. My path of advancement had me being the main dish washer a few months later, as this was a very critical position at an AYCE buffet. I was a great dishwasher, but Busby moved me to frying fish and shrimp a few months later.

The catfish at Jarrell’s wasn’t nearly as good as the fired shrimp.

Isn't there also one in Shreveport now on Cross Lake? Also, Lakewood Inn on Black Lake in Campti is my favorite place to go eat fish or shrimp.

Is that the old Sea and Sirloin? They had some good fish, too.

The old Sea and Sirloin shut down but has recently reopened. Lakewood Inn is across the bridge from Sea and Sirloin. We went right after Sea and Sirloin opened back up and the food was horrible. May be better now being that's been a year ago.

Catfish Charlies is damn good. Love me some thin & crispy snappy snappy.

However, Shockley's in Elm Grove (near lake bistineau) is as good as it gets, imo.

I completely agree. Ate there once and I thought the thin fried catfish was a joke.

If you like fish flavored chips, then it's the place for you. For some reason a lot of people like it.

I haven’t eaten at half the places mentioned in this thread, but the fried catfish at Morel’s on False River is pretty good.
