I ended up wearing my rain gear when it wasn't raining because they couldn't bite through them.
It wasn't like that all the time, but when they're bad, they're apocalyptic. They could really make you crazy.

I can tell you how he made it in the Atchafalaya Basin - 12 thermacells surrounding their campsite. They dont show everything on tv! No way for them to make it any other way. The mosquitoes were ungodly when we set up the first camp. First guy almost cut off 4 toes the first day. That part didnt make it on the air. Filming started on the episode in late August. After the accident, the crew left and came back 4 weeks later to try again.

I was. All the production people are being paid on a day rate. If the "stars" of that episode quit, everyone's pay stops too. So it benefits all involved to "help", lest the payday ends early.

So many down votes on people with experience telling you these mosquitoes are NO joke.
I can only assume these are born and bred S. LA baws who refuse to admit there's another place with a worse Maringouin situation and want to claim some kind of "hardship" trophy.

Hes definitely going to win. When he said he has nothing better to go back go at home and they're going to have to drag him out knew he was the guy to beat.

Spent a little time north of Fairbanks, AK. Those mosquitoes are fierce. They laugh at deet and you need long sleeves, pants, and a head net. Beautiful landscape and great fishing, though!
