Well, the impact on the Mississippi flyway will go far beyond one hunting club. It will affect a lot more than just the 50-100k acreage in south Louisiana.
explain to me in detail with studies that show how space x and even nasa have destroyed the bird habitats around the centers please.
or is this one of the things, as I suspect, that you have no clue about in depth and just want to repeat things you heard?

NDA’s are not required and other states have proven that
This deal could have been done without NDA’s but little Landry wanted it and maybe it’s much ado about nothing
I support the endeavor btw. I just know enough to know that signing the NDA’s was not a deal breaker

I know Dr Young and Miss Becky, and I would not put them in that bucket. Dr Young was one of the first people to teach me about how the Corps of Engineers f***** up the Louisiana marshes. They are a little odd, and known as such in Vermilion parish, so this doesn't totally surprise me. I don't think it will amount too much

studies from who?
What scientist with no money could make a study against the people with all the money and have it go anywhere without getting shut down or taking a payoff
When you type in anything remotely critical of data centers the Google robot guy has an autistic meltdown and tries to redirect you to “heres how data centers are good for you”
I hope once the h1bs are the majority in this country they give us a white reservation to live on

Out of curiousity:
1) if the terms of the deal state politicians are making is such a huge net positive for the average people in the state
2) and the private business would negotiate without an NDA
What exactly could be volatile enough in the agreement for state politicians to risk all the negative publicity in order to keep it from the public?

South Louisiana is a huge wintering ground for @2 million ducks. No other space city has that population, so there is no study available for that situation. I do know that observations at the Boca Chica Starbase showed base activities have driven nesting shorebirds away, dropping nesting counts down to nearly zero in the blast zones. They also have had significant declines in shorebird populations.
If this plays out in a similar fashion, with a space city that has only 2 Launch pads, imagine the impact of a space city with 10 pads. The migratory waterfowl will leave and never come back.

Seems you may be the one who is uninformed of the potential consequences.

The mere fact that it’s even being negotiated would have killed this in the crib because of stupid people. These lawsuits and fake outrage would have started years ago when the initial talks did, and it wouldn’t have gotten very far in Louisiana.

Economic impact >>> a few thousand people having to duck hunt somewhere else.

It may change the flyway, and that impacts a lot more than a few thousand up and down the Mississippi. Add the impact on commercial/recreational fishing and shrimping as well.
I don't hunt or fish in that area, but I understand their concerns.

I understand their concerns too. The largest economic investment in the State’s history and the potential for following investments as the base expands far outweighs those concerns.
No one’s hunting or fishing spot, or even all of them aggregated, comes close to that as a relative concern. Neither, for that matter, do birds in general. The deal would be worth it if no migratory bird ever flew over Vermillion Parish again.

Only very dumb people consider what will pop up at the highway exits to be the economic impact of this.
In 15 years you won’t be complaining about the roads, bridges, and coastal infrastructure that come out of the base, to the benefit of the entire area and region.

A) you linked an opinion article
B) where is the documentation on the number of birds that were near Boca Chica before and after starbase? certainly if you are going to make the claim you have the numbers right
and do have the same type if hissy fit of ducks unlimited who have done more damage to the migratory bird population in South LA than spacex could only hope to do in a million lifetimes?
and even if there is damage to the migratory path...are you telling me that them not being able to travel a few more miles south and having to stop in the white lake conservation area is enough to drive 2 million away? they cant land in the east vermillon in rockefeller or all of the rest of cameron parish? or to the west at marsh island?
this little spot on pecan island that space x will take is suddenly going to drive all the migratory birds away in all of South LA?
gtfo
you are worried about the duck lease down there...guess what...nobody gives a frick. we arent stopping progress because a few ducks cant make it all the way down. go to California if you want regulation like that

This isn’t some good ol boy deal. We are talking the largest investment in Louisiana history. Property tax write off is nothing compared to the prosperity that will come of Starbase.
So says you.
We'll see what happens in real life I guess.
It's OK to question shady backroom deals with our politician's track record in this state, and some people (including myself) don't buy into Musk's vision (and timeline) for the future of occupying Mars.
But it's a (mostly) free country and he should be allowed to develop where he wants provided he fulfills the same legal requirements that any other private entity would have to.
