If the benefits are so apparent, why the need to do back room deals in secrecy?

because NDAs are signed with the large deals like this to keep the lawsuites at bay until its too late

if we didnt live in a dumbass country that allows lawsuits over every thing it wouldnt be an issue

he is the bottomline....

would you rather spacex come and turn the barren marsh into something useful and fix coastal erosion in that area and bring thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions in taxes but also getting to avoid the huge property tax for 25 years?

or

you get nothing...zero...the marsh stays the same, the land continue to erode, the tax money, the economic development, the jobs, the population growth is gone....you get shite

all because you demanded everything be in the open so lawsuits could tie it up in court for 5-8 years all brought by dumbasses in NOLA that have never even heard of Pecan Island before this deal.

bottom line is on deals like this its simple....you give up the property taxes for the taxes the construction and population growth will bring in and take the property taxes until a later date. For some reason delayed gratification is a huge issue with many in this state

you either do that....or you get shite and they go somewhere else. this includes space x, lng plants, data centers, refineries, chem plants etc.

Lawyers…. They see $$$

And Little Landry trying to be slick. He should have done a better job being transparent but he wanted to keep it on the downlow.

It’s going to stall it

no it wont

and no landry wasnt trying to be slick...on deals like this, NDAs are necessary.

Now, if you’re claiming a corporate entity, that is getting a 25 year property tax break, is doing so for purely altruistic reasons, you may want to reconsider who is the idiot.

of course they arent but are you so fricking stupid you cant understand why the overall tax rolls will grow while they parish waits for the 25 year property tax exemptions to expire?

are you under the impression this isnt a good thing?

i think you may need to reconsider who is the idiot.

You are an idiot if you think every business deal between a company and a government is public record

It absolutely must be put in the public record before it is approved.

That doesn’t mean there can’t be NDA’s in the process, which is SOP

Just quoting to make sure this is read again. Its going to have the votes no matter what is said, but we should expect our public officials to be open and honest with the public. I saw someone say its ok to use a code name for a public project, ok. What if it was in your rural parish and it was a landfill under a code name, would you still be ok with it?

Do you think people showing up to the meeting would've changed the outcome of the meeting? No, nothing was going to change what's going to happen. There's way too much money and power involved.

This is pogie boats part 2

Y’all complain about yalls kids leaving but unless you get a kid hooked on hunting and fishing or they knock up somebody young they’re probably leaving. We keep giving away all the natural areas in this state and soon all that will be left is section 8 neighborhoods and data centers

They purposely tried to fool the public about the meeting by giving it some sketchy code name so the public wouldn't attend. But its ok because its SpaceX.

If we actually wanted this to benefit the state that was needed or else a bunch of cousins and nephews of our "Honorable" politicians would know too many details and try to carve out their part causing SpaceX to decide it would be better off in Corpus Christi. My guess is these same "concerned citizens" who aren't getting their slice are the ones who are behind this lawsuit.

One thing about Louisiana is our politics are consistent.

No they aren’t and several elected officials have come out publically with some saying they wish they hadn’t signed
