They are making a $25 million payment in lieu of property taxes every year

prolly. most just love to bitch and keep things the way they are so they can bitch some more
they think its going to hurt the environment in that area, which if you have ever been to pecan island...they would know is complete bullshite. the area is disappearing fast and this will stop that.

These two are why you can't have decent discussions here. fricking blowhards who think shouting over everyone is winning an argument.

Let me know when they start investing, because the state has already spent a metric shite-ton on it.

$20 million is due within 90 days of the effective date of the agreement

ok explain it to me
i dont like NDAs either but without them this deal does not get done
i would rather the deal get done than it be built somewhere else. for years we have lost big time investments before they had a chance to get off the ground due to not having NDAs and lawyers fricking it up
so explain it to me. explain how NDAs are the problem and not the NOLA lawyers who sue over everything. how did having NDAs hurt the average citizen in the acadiana area?
sorry for asking you to use facts and not feelings to explain things. if that makes me a blow hard than so be it.

It’s this. Almost all opposition to NDA’s, the SpaceX base, or the data centers etc are from people who have no earthly idea how this process works.
They can’t process that the same stupid people screaming now about things they don’t understand would prevent the State from even being considered if mouth-breathers could force their way into the negotiation and planning stages.

space x brings tons of jobs. is going to restore the coast, will build an area that is currently useless.
H1bs
They’re not gonna restore the coast they’re going to change it to how they want it and make it inaccessible to everyone else
And I think that area is really nice
quote:
data centers...again bring jobs, the new closed loop systems being installed do not use much water and the only annoying thing is the generators but those will be replaced soon enough anyways and most new data centers are being built new LNG plants in the future. Why would you not support this?
Data centers are used for mass surveillance and besides building them giving a few baws work they don’t provide much economic activity and few permanent jobs not to mention everybody else gets to pay more for electricity and the people that live around them get health problems from constant infrasound
You’re not gonna change my mind. I don’t think we should give away 1/4 of the state because “jobs” especially considering that space is nothing more than a black hole that we send tax dollars into
ETA: Elon must be giving out Netanyahu checks because there’s a lot of y’all in here saying how great this is gonna be without doing the least bit of critical thinking about it

The whole video is good, but i've linked to the part about why. Boils down to not being able to launch over populated areas. Having the fuel on site doesn't hurt either.
The video should have also mentioned that you want to launch as close to the equator as possible and you also use the rotation of the earth to help you. That's why they go East and not West.

part of the contract is they have to stop coastal erosion on pecan island
damn dude
and i dont give a frick if you think a trailer overlooking a marsh with trash all in the yard is nice....it isnt. its unused land period.
i hope you really are trolling or you are the perfect example of people against this......completely fricking clueless on the details but love to shout about feelings

they do not cause the electricity to go up for everyone around them nor the water
they are not for mass surveillance and if you dont want mass surveillance than stop posting on the internet, get rid of your smart phone and drive a truck from 1995...if you dont do those things already stfu
they do provide tons or construction jobs, good ones, they do contribute a ton to local economy(see raceland) and they do provide perm jobs...sure not a ton, but still provide them

of course not...you have an iq under 90....you are so dumb you are convinced you are smart

we gave away a 1/4 of the state by giving unused land on pecan island? so we should be ultra concerned about the dozen or so citizens there like that fat arse Liz "The Swamp Queen?

we are not the ones not thinking critically. like i said...so low IQ you think you are the smart one
you literally did nothing but state feelings. not a single fact...just rehashing chinese propaganda on this shite without even realizing it.

Infrasound and Low-Frequency Noise in Data Center Environments: A Narrative Review Toward Health-Protective Acoustic Design Standards
Basically they’re saying it effects sleep patterns and such
I get it if you’re on the big tech titty
I’m a Louisiana from 30 years ago enjoyer and don’t want Elon musk to texas my Louisiana with his concrete and foreigners

SIAP. Don't have time to look back.
Actual petition not yet available online, but . . . .
They did not sue SpaceX. (I wonder if it is a "person needed for just adjudication" under 641.)
Instead, they sued the Police Jury and the Industrial Development Board.
Judge Laurie Hulin has the case. She is up for election this year but is unopposed. That means she will not be up for reelection until 2032.

did you actually read the study?
quote:
This narrative review has identified and characterized a specific research gap at the intersection of two independently developed bodies of literature: the established science of ILFN health effects and the emerging science of data center acoustic environments. The central finding of this study is that no published study has characterized the infrasound and low-frequency noise spectrum of an operational data center, and no health assessment has examined ILFN-related outcomes in data center workers or surrounding communities
essentially they have not measured nor mapped out any ILFN concerns at the actual centers. Im all for forcing them to put acoustic liners or structural design changes to stop the noise pollution. but thats not what your study says
and if we could stop the in ILFN you would be ok with data centers?

I get it if you’re on the big tech titty

so elon built north of dallas and imported all the foreigners? I didnt know SPACE X was in the DFW area, damn you should tell people
what part of they can not hire foreigners do you not understand?
again you want things to stay the same while bitching about no jobs, lack of infrastructure etc.
you can frick off. doesnt really matter you lost, its happening so you can go sit in the corner and finger your a-hole for all i care because your opinion means jack shite now.

Tesla baw
ETA: I posted the only study on infrasound I could find but I would assume since this is so new it’s a new thing
But no I would only support a data center if they paid me
Hmmm wonder why so many support data centers and spacex here

noise pollution is not a new thing and we have engineer controls for that and have for a long time.

of course...even built in non populated areas you dont like it

why because we actually like the state and want the state to have opportunities to make a good living. You on the other hand want to hold the state back while talking about how great texas and florida are.
you want to live in the 1930s louisiana. I actually want my kids to want to live here, but lack of real high paying jobs doesnt really help.

There are high paying jobs everywhere
What sets Louisiana apart is the things that make it different like hunting and fishing which is being lost to spacex, data centers, pogie boats
Other things that set Louisiana apart is the food and how everybody is an alcoholic but the space1bs will fix that once they get sharia law passed

Well, the impact on the Mississippi flyway will go far beyond one hunting club. It will affect a lot more than just the 50-100k acreage in south Louisiana.
