I suppose the fear is being incorrectly identified as a criminal. I would think that would be a rare occurrence and fairly easy to disprove. I’d definitely consider it to get criminals off the street.

Local governments would use facial recognition as a fund raiser, the same way they use traffic light and speed cameras now.

The fact that this is being discussed means it's already happening.

I have used Clearview AI and other facial recognition programs. I am curious as to why people are saying "no" to this question and not giving a reason or explanation why. Also, "because its a slippery slope" does not answer the question.

The reason comes down to no one having trust in our institutions, be it local or federal government or ABC agencies, to not use this technology against them. Given recent events, I think it’s a well-founded concern.

In a world where our government was run by people who had America’s best interest at heart, I think facial recognition tech is a no-brainer.

They are already using this shite in NOLA. Did no one hear read the news stories earlier this year when NOPD denied "having" this tech and then got caught using it and said "well it belongs to LSP, we were just using it."

Also, there are people claiming it doesn't work as well on black people so it is racist. Which will doom it for sure.

It would prob end up being racist and identify a black man for a crime he didn’t commit.

What would be the reason for it?

And you can’t say crime, they aren’t prosecuting in big cities as it is.

Cops don't reduce crime... DA's reduce crime when they do thier jobs.

Either way no.

What are we voluntarily giving up right now with smart devices and cameras in so many homes now? Everyone agrees to the long list of terms when they install and use these devices. A device/camera in a public setting seems less worrisome.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. As fricked up as this country is right now, this isn’t China. We may get there with the government we have now.
