The body of the person who threw out anything from McDonald’s would decompose faster than the food he threw out even if that person lived another 50 years.

while we are on the topic can we discuss how much open container laws contribute to highway littering? seems like 90% of trash on the side of the road is beer cans

A friend’s mom got pulled over by a cop in Plano TX because she was stopped at a red light, opened her door, and poured out the warm water in a bottle of water. The policeman said that water wasn’t littering but he couldn’t believe she did it right in front of him.
No ticket but a whole lot of protecting and serving.

Throwing anything biodegradable out of a car window is 100% littering by law. You can be ticketed and it also makes you trashy AF.

Here is the question you need to ask yourself. Let's say every day you found a banana peel or apple core in your driveway. Would that bother you?
If not, then yes you are trashy.

I bet you don't take the sticker off the banana.

While it's likely better on the floor of a Forrest than a landfill. Anyone who throws things out a car window is a trashy piece of shite litterbug

If I lived in Livingston Parish, I’d probably jump out of a moving vehicle too

I haven't gotten a ticket yet for spitting sunflower seeds on the ground.

Birds gotta to eat, same as the worms.

Did you know that throwing fruits/veggies out of the car is one of the leading causes of birds of prey dying?
thadcastle throws apple core out of the window.
possum/coon/mouse goes to eat it.
owl/eagle/hawk sees the aforementioned scavenger and swoops down.
Said bird of prey gets hit by a car.
Now this is a good reason to stop. The whole trash angle I don't get because I wouldn't consider it trash when it falls from a tree. But knowing that it is a leading cause of birds of prey dying will be enough for me to stop.

You should, because it's freaking trashy.
I don't understand the "it'll biodegrade" argument, because it takes forever for these things to actually biodegrade.

Those things do not break down. Someone I knew worked in the health education space...kept a McDonalds cheese burger in a container for 10 years. No mold...looked the exact same but slightly shrunken.
Happy Meal 24 years later.
I saw a National Geographic article on garbage archeology where the author found a 16 year old hotdog in a landfill. Damn thing looked like a grilled hotdog.
