I'd bet everything it was 4 black males, age ranging from 15-25, all wearing face mask and hoodies.
They probably weren't wearing face masks. They DGAF. And why should they when the pussy police and media won't even tell you their genders or skin color to help catch them.

Does this question seriously need to be asked when you already know the mother fricking answer?

When you inevitably get the frick out of that city, don’t bring its politics with you.

My brother was murdered two blocks from the then 2nd District precinct in 2006. Detectives used the excuse for it being Post Katrina Nola for not doing their due diligence in figuring things out and let it become a cold case.

One of the guys they interviewed called 911 and couldn’t get through. The woman was still alive. Not alive when paramedics finally arrived.

There is a strong chance they’re all juveniles and will be back on the street in a couple years, if they don’t beat up a guard and steal his/her vehicle while escaping whichever juvenile detention center they end up being assigned. In that case they’ll be back in a couple of weeks.

Absolutely unacceptable that it took five minutes for 911 to pick up. The switchboard was likely manned by one person on their lunch break. It also shouldn’t have taken 15 minutes for EMS to arrive since their headquarters are on Earhart and Claiborne.

All valid points.
So where does it start? I’ve always been taught that if you want to “fix something right” you diagnose the root cause of the problem and address that first. Without fixing the fundamental issue, you will constantly be in a state of repair where additional components that never had issues before now begin to break down and eventually the whole thing fails.
So where’s the FUNDAMENTAL issue here? Honest question.
Better pay for police force, more training, better equipment, etc.? Increase the number of police force? More dispatchers? More EMS? New Chief of Police? New DA? New mayor?
I get all of the “people” can be replaced, but what does the “replacement” need to do? I’m curious to know what “should” be addressed first.

The government kicked black men (really men in general) out of the home and replaced him with daddy government.

Therein lies the problem. Daddy government replaced real, tangible fathers.
It’s a shame what LBJ did to the black nuclear family.

I’d be lying if I told you where things need to start at. From a top down approach, things just aren’t in sync.
The NOPD is operating at half the manpower it should be and is budgeted for about 1600 officers. Current officers are leaving at alarming rates for other parishes or just taking their pension and retiring.
You have the NOPD and DA at odds with each other because neither is going to accept responsibility for their own issues. As quickly as criminals are being arrested for crimes, they’re being released with a slap on the wrist. Criminals realize how much they can get away with. If they’re juveniles, they’ll skate the system.
You have a mayor that has focused solely on Covid the past two years knowing damn well that she could let the real issues go by the waist side. The mayoral position in New Orleans has become a glorified throne that inept politicians can sit on for eight years and continually pass critical issues off onto the next regime.
The problems with the criminals seem to be starting at home. Multiple generations of families under the age of 50. Teenagers that have limited eyes on them because mom is in her mid 30’s still acting like a kid herself or working day and night trying to provide. So they come home from school (if they even go) and have no authoritative figure to keep them on the straight and narrow so they go looking for things to do or someone older begins to deceptively manipulate because they’re aware of situations at home. More and more seem to have zero moral compass nor ability to decipher what’s right and wrong.
An older coworker once said a lot of the issues with todays youth could stem from the demolition of the public housing throughout the city. He said that often times you had more watchdogs and older neighbors that were present in the youths lives because they would know a parents schedule. There used to be a sense of personal responsibility throughout the neighborhoods that has since been lost.
With all that being said, there just needs to be more of a sense of accountability from public officials. No one is going to accept the blame for crumbling infrastructure, millions of dollars being stolen that was earmarked for projects, rise in crime etc. City Council needs to step up, local media needs to grow a spine and start questioning everything. The people that loved calling the city home for so long are now quickly moving to JP and St Tammany.

This absolutely disgusts me. I'm done making excuses. The city is absolutely ruined right now. I'm finished.
