The disparity in the mindset of people is astounding. On one side you have what you said and the other side says it’s ok to steal, pilfer, stab and shoot, and we should look the other way.

Good Lord! More wood on the fire. Ben Crump will make this terrible incident turn from a mole hill to a whole mountain range, raising issues from the right to steal from Walmart (and all the rabbit holes that will uncover) to rights and duties of the police to fire on the running thieves.
Ben Crump stated, "His mother, who has not been charged with any crime, says she was trying to communicate to officers that there was a baby in the car. They fired anyway, leading to the death of an innocent 1-year-old." Really? Was that how it really happened? I'll have to look up the definition of "communicate".
I'm also puzzled on why Mama hasn't been charged. Her response to the cops was to simply drive off which escalated the entire matter.
It's a case of mental gymnastics to get from "trying to communicate to officers" to being in a car speeding toward the cops. I appears someone is misrepresenting the issue here. How did cranking the car and driving off be part of "communicating"?
As for the cops shooting. Was it just a box of diapers or more? Did Mama and her friend actually try to run the police down? Did the police just shoot at the car or were they trying to shoot the driver? Was it worth it over a package of diapers?
So many rabbits and so many holes to go down. Ben Crump needed to stay out of this but there's that.

close range shooting tires may only slow them down, if a 9mm will even penetrate most tires from front shot.
It's the same tired old line of why didn't they shoot him in the leg.
if the driver did in fact try to run over police - she needs to be charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent.
and people need lessons on what a peaceful protest is.... It would be comical if that walmart would close for a couple of weeks.

Why’d they have to shoot?

The child was killed when police opened fire on his family’s car in the parking lot of Walmart Sunday while responding to a shoplifting call.
That is why they investigate such events rather than imagine outcomes with incomplete information.
Hopefully, the state investigators will give us credible facts in the near future.

I'm confused how a baby is dead, and half the posts in here is about some diapers. Those diapers are the least of my concern here.

Baby was in one of the kweens lap during da gettaway. Car seats are optional with shoplifters.

Yes, my understanding is that the parking lot is where this took place and yes they were on foot chasing the diaper thieves.
But I do believe that they had eyes on the thieves and knew who they were chasing and then saw them get in a car that started to drive away. Certainly you agree with that unless you think that they shot at the first car with diapers?
So at some point the officer ended up on the parking lot road where cars drive putting his body in harms way.
I’m not at all saying that what the diaper thieves did was right and maybe they did exhibit a reckless disregard for life, but I do believe that the officers intentionally created that situation. Maybe we’ll see one day and I’ll be proven wrong.

The origin of “Indian” is not American, it’s the Asian subcontinent. There are more Asian Indians than American Indians by a huge margin.
“gensing” is not American. It’s not even a real word.
And you spelled it incorrectly twice. In one word. Kudos (or Kodus?)
Perhaps you meant “ginseng”? That’s the root of the plant “Panax”. There are two varieties, one Asian and one American.
You (again) didn’t specify.
A reasonable person (who could decipher the misspelled) could easily assume someone referring to “Indian Ginseng” meant something from Mumbai or Kolkata.
So, I stand by my earlier statement that an eight and one-half year-old is at least as literate as are you.

Jesus Christ, I’m sure you think Karmelo Anthony didn’t deserve to go to prison for stabbing a person one time either…
In society there have to be consequences to actions. If you break the law, there are ALWAYS risks of consequences.

Right. One should be able to steal at will without being shot at. But disrespect? That's punishable by death.
