You're stupid if you are relying on SS for retirement at this point

Contrary, I'll be 61 2032. I may join the Boomers you hate, likely your own parents, in throwing bricks at Washington DC. Taxation and constant misuse of it is theft. Think through it, big mouth.

Some good news...

welfare rolls decline

+5
Welfare rolls have experienced one of the sharpest declines in decades nationwide, driven by sweeping policy changes and stricter eligibility requirements. Across major social safety net programs, millions of Americans have transitioned off assistance as states aggressively reassess who qualifies for benefits. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
National SNAP (Food Stamps) Decline
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has seen a drop of over 3.5 million participants nationwide. [1]
Policy Trigger: The decline largely follows the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which enacted major spending cuts and raised the work requirement age limit.
State Impacts: Every state has recorded reduced enrollment, with some states like Arizona seeing participation drop by roughly 51%.
Federal Scope: This reduction has brought total program enrollment down to roughly 38.5 million. [1, 2]

The lengths you people go to blame “fraud” and “foreigners” for social security mess lol
Dude, if we can’t start with the easy stuff the problem will never be solved. No non-US citizens should ever get the first dime from SS. If we can’t agree on that then there’s no hope.

When you hear anyone blame all Boomers for SSI, you automatically know they are simple and lack basic thinking skills.
Put the blame where it belongs:
Anyone that voted or votes Democrat.
To this point in history, Boomers are the only generation to try to end SSI.

No….because it is not going to be cut by 22% in 2032. We have heard all our lives that the SS program was bankrupt and there would be no program in the future…..yet here we are.
Yes we have been told our entire lives that social security would run out in the early 30s. Now here we are 6 years way.
They will raise FICA taxes and the retirement age, I don’t expect cuts.

Is this the new Climate Change....

Current law mandates that when the trust fund runs out, benefits are cut
In your opinion, why is the data incorrect that shows 2032 as the year expenditures exceed revenue?

Call me crazy but I feel they owe me what I put in.

You are paying in less than what you are likely to receive
Hence the looming insolvency

They've said this for 20 years plus and it always gets done. It's a bipartisan issue that is almost an auto-vote out of office if they don't take care of it.

W. Bush tried to fix it and Morons killed the bill. If that bill became law, we’d be in great financial shape

Maybe someone should look into how many foreigners are getting SS payments. Many without having paid the first cent in.
Many other places to cut as well within the SS framework that send checks to people that never contributed, i.e., SSD to children with autism.

Who said anything about anyone ‘counting on social security as your sole source of income in retirement’ ? I didnt see anything about that.. Why would you assume something weird like that ? Maybe English isnt your first language .
Relax cowboy. It was just a general statement. I'm not attacking your manhood.
Geez you people are so sensitive.

I have decided that these warnings are nothing but political scare tactics. Every politician’s underlying campaign message is: “I’m the only one that can save you”
exactly.
there’s never been a problem or a perceived problem or a non-problem that the government won’t volunteer themselves to fix without a single vote cast. And when I say fix, I mean they’ll make the problem significantly worse, the process slower, and bring on hundreds of full-time brain dead government employees to support the non-fix. So, don’t worry…the government will get this thing figured out.
Also, again: there should be no further discussion of fraud or immigrants receiving government benefits. After all, this is a forum/discussion board. So, none of that.
