re: Why does Louisiana continue to decline as our southern neighbors grow?

Because we almost have the same amount of government workers as Pennsylvania, with 1/3 the population. Let that soak in.

New to TD, bruh?

Correct and every private sector college educated worker that leaves increases the ratio and stresses state Government to support.
When the Saints and Pels move the head in the sand fans will have their eyes opened on how their votes caused this.

BC most (I said most) people in LA don’t care about what would be good for the rest of the state, just as long as they get what THEY want.

MS, AL, Ar, SC a Nebraska to name a few.
Our priorities are way out of whack

The Saints and Pels aren’t going anywhere because the NFL & NBA both want a team in New Orleans so they can host all star games and other events year round. Wouldn’t shock me if the NFL had the draft there.
This exact reason is why the NHL is interested in an expansion team there. It’s a destination for visiting fans. The local support matters but it’s not everything like people think. They already have an arena that can be used for NHL games. It’s a seamless transition.
People can point to statistics and data all they want but New Orleans is and always will be a destination city that people love to visit. Tourism will always be a backbone for Louisiana especially New Orleans. It’s a great sports city. Believe it or not.

What is so great about Texas? Besides its beautiful landscape? Austin is blue, Dallas / Ft Worth are bland and elect the likes of Crockett. Houston may as well be 3rd world, and its surrounding suburbs, no better. Montgomery County is awful. Harris and Montgomery counties are filled with stays running loose, so much so, there are groups of street feeders, as in much of Texas. Keep going towards the RGV and it’s worse. For being such a great state, its citizens sure are irresponsible. I know it supposedly has better schools, but what else?

I don't know how you can say that with how segregated it is. At least in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Ever been to Birmingham?
You have no idea how segregated a city can be if you think NOLA is.

I left due to how New Orleans treated us during the pandemic. And $1000+ per month in property tax with third world infrastructure and services. Folks that stay have Stockholm syndrome or something.

Right. And if you try to build something like a solar farm you'll get all sorts of belly aching from scared oil and gas small thinkers.
How many permanent white collar and blue collar jobs does an average solar farm create?

Because we have crooks running the state.

It has jobs and is driving distance for people from LA. That is about it.
It’s crowded and miserable to live in. At least Dallas and Austin are nice. Houston is a depressing shithole with no green space or outdoor activity options. I feel bad for anyone that lives there.

So LA is the only Red state to lose people. Utterly fricking embarrassing. Landry is a hack, all the politicians at the state level are crooks. frick all of them.
Did you miss the big 2022-2023 at the top of the graphic?

Sounds about what I figure.

It all goes back to Louisiana's earlier history in politics. The politics in this state have always been a hellscape. Louisiana was doomed from the start and it just has never gotten better. The amount of people that stay here to start a family decreases year after year leaving the population that uses tax money to live rather than pays taxes growing exponentially.

The saints keep the masses under control. It’s the only thing they have. I can’t imagine the state/city would ever let them go without fighting.

People leave shitty areas for better areas.

Because Louisiana sucks

All of the parish governments.
The collusion among families in the state to rob everyone else. All the contracts issued by the government entities go to family/friends not the best available.
We spend terribly, live even worse. We have the highest auto rates, highest home insurance, highest violent crime rate, most DWI's per capita.
You name a bad statistic, Louisiana is almost certainly in the top 5.
Not only all of this but you all think that no one else notices but they do and they point and laugh at the stupidity
Our state also just looks like a dump. That's a big part of it that doesn't seem to get enough attention. Just drive across the Florida state line (or even Alabama for that matter), and there's a sense of pride and that they actually take care of the place. People don't want to move to or stay in a place that looks like a crap hole. Louisiana is a poor state and just driving down just about any interstate or state highway around here just confirms it. West St. Tammany, Old Metairie, and Lafayette/Youngsville are the only decent places here (emphasis on decent)

Stop throwing trash out of your car window would be a big help to the state.
