It's what they do. Except for attorneys...professional courtesy.

The bite is meant to injure fatally, and they wait for you to bleed out.

Great whites typically feed on seals. They almost always take a massive bite and allow the seal to bleed out before consuming When doing this with humans there are usually other people around to help rescue the victim...if not I believe they would return to finish their meal. I don't believe we are on the menu and generally there are 2 types of attacks. An investigative bite or a feeding type of attack. The problem with a great white is either can be deadly. Usually when they do a feeding type attack humans die if not protected by a surfboard.
In florda, shark attack capital of the world, most attacks on the atlantic side are by small blacktips that bite a foot. It is thought the underside of the foot shines like a small baitfish and its just a mistake.
Bull sharks are the ones to worry about the most. They are the most aggressive during attacks and generally in water temps that people really enjoy swimming in. A lot of people don't realize the gulf coast of florida has great whites in the winter months but leave by the time summer crowds show up.

Because they look delicious

It's not the shark. It's their owner.

You ever take a sip of a drink, expecting something else?

99% of shark attacks I hear are the shark just biting someone's leg and moving on. It is very rare to ever hear of a shark attacking someone for a meal. Maybe a giant great white that is hungry. Do people not taste good to them?

Got a tiny bit in my left eye recently and it burned and watered most of the day.

People in full body swimsuits are often mistaken as seals to a shark.

the people that venture out are low fat, and not like the seals and fish they like.
So we need to convince the fatties to go out deeper?
