"Immigrants" in Finland are from Sweden and Russia, not Africa or the Middle East.
Finnish (90.9%)
Other European (4.6%)
Asian (2.9%)
African (1.2%)
Others (0.7%)
So 7.5% is from other Europe or Asia (Russia is in both)
and 1.2% from Africa

having just spent time up there, this is accurate on both sides. i went to Boston, Portsmouth, NH, Cape Elizabeth, and Portland, ME.
Lots of trans flags, black lives matter, and no human is illegal signs. Also everything was ungodly expensive and impossible to have houses near city centers for people that weren't making 6 figures. i also saw a single black person in NH, 0 hispanics, and every black person i saw in Portland was in service industry.
i came away getting why they vote that way. they have very few inner city problems, low poverty, lower single parent households, good schools, very homogenous society, and it's expensive AF.
It didn't change my opinion about their perspectives. I get red states look like assholes for not welcoming immigrants, not being forgiving of higher crime in some black communities, and caring about gay stuff in schools. To boot, none of the service workers can afford to live where they work, so of course they're socialists.
somebody i know from Maine or Rhode Island (been a couple of years) said "Texas elections are stupid. you guys are arguing about crime, books in libraries, taxes, the border, and drag shows. My governor is running on us being #2 in education and needing to get to #1."
no shite sherlock. you aren't having to hire ESL teachers and push off graduating 19 YOs with a 4th grade reading level.

There's no shite to sling. They are a small, homogeneous high-trust country. When you have a high-trust society, the method of government is less important. They also benefit from the protective umbrella of the United States, which allows them to spend more money on liberal policies.
The comparisons to the United States regarding governmental structure are retarded. The U.S. has nothing in common with any Nordic country.

And what’s more, Nordic countries are not exactly homogeneous. Around 8 per cent of the Finnish population is foreign-born, about the same percentage as in Denmark,
Avg us home size - 2200 sq feet
Avg Finland home size - 880 sq feet
Avg Denmark home size - 1500 sq feet
Tax rate making 50k a year
US - 22%
Denmark - 40%
Finland - 40%

I used to go to Norway a lot for business. One thing that struck me was all of the Norwegians employed everywhere I went. Maybe it has changed but I never saw immigrants much less illegals working. The desk staff at the hotel, the maid staff at the hotel, wait staff in restaurants, and even the garbage men were all Norwegians. One of the garbage "men" was a young attractive local lady hence my memory of that.

I wish everyone in these areas of the US would be forced to live in Jackson, MS for a year.

Not sure specifics in Norway, but I know they don't just let people stay in most Nordic countries even if you have a job. There are income requirements and other things.
ETA:
From Quora, so grain of salt, but this jives with other things I've read about Nordic countries. Imagine if the US had the same requirements

quote:
In order to obtain a work permit visa in Norway, you must meet the following requirements:
* **Have a job offer from a legitimate employer in Norway.** The job offer letter must state the position, salary and job requirements.
* **Have appropriate qualifications for the job position offered.** Qualifications can be education, work experience, or certification.
* **Fluent in Norwegian or English.** You must be able to communicate effectively in Norwegian or English.
* **Have sufficient funds to support yourself while in Norway.** You must be able to show proof that you have sufficient funds to support your living while in Norway, including the cost of rent, meals, transportation and other living expenses.
After fulfilling these requirements, you can apply for a work permit visa at the Norwegian Embassy or Consulate in your country. Applications for work permit visas can be made online or in person.
Here are the documents you need to prepare to apply for a work permit visa:
* **Work permit visa application letter.** The work permit visa application letter must be handwritten and signed by you. An application for a work permit visa should explain why you want to work in Norway, your qualifications and any job offers you have.
* **A job offer letter from a legitimate employer in Norway.** A job offer letter must state the position, salary and job requirements.
* **Identity documents, such as passports and passport photocopies.**
* **Educational documents, such as diplomas and grade transcripts.**
* **Documents of work experience, such as work certificates or letters of recommendation.**
* **Document proof of language proficiency, such as a language certificate or language test results.**
* **Document proof of funds, such as proof of ownership of a bank account or proof of ownership of other assets.**
The process of applying for a work permit visa can take up to several weeks. You will receive notification of the status of your application by email or letter.
If your application is approved, you will receive a work permit visa valid for two years. You can extend the validity of your work permit visa after two years.
Here are some tips to increase your chances of getting a work permit visa in Norway:
* **Find a job that matches your qualifications.**
* **Communicate clearly and politely in Norwegian or English.**
* **Prepare the required documents completely and correctly.**

as a fairly rabid libertarian, I welcome left leaning policy (high taxes, free college, free healthcare, etc) if you promise to do your job with those taxes and keep it to my homogenous society.
you can have social safety nets and social programs while homelessness immigration and vice exist but are discouraged. you can't have them when they're accepted or encouraged.

Put it this way, there’s a lot of snow in the Nordic countries.

when i was in Portsmouth, NH the amazon drivers, garbage men, and city workers i saw were all 6/10+ looking men/women.
some dude was in an obvious trashman outfit pushing a big dumpster through downtown and i thought to myself "that man is far too good looking to be in that role."

Their happiness is polarized.
I read a post elsewhere from a Scandanavian who noted that during the pleasant Summer months when they have 18+ hours of daylight with warm weather everyone is running around outside, drinking and socializing, etc. But during the Winter they get depressed and hole up to escape the frigid cold and constant darkness.
The thing is these "happiness" or quality of life studies are always conducted in the Summer because they use students working summer jobs to collect and compile the data so the results are misleading because they catch everyone at peak fun time but if you ask them the same questions in January they will have a different answer.

Strict immigration policy and homogeneous population. Helps when you have a common culture and you don't have billionaire activists like George Soros attempting to undermine it every second of his life.
