Why do old boomers repost those posts on Facebook that ask everyone to repost them?

I always see posts that say something like “if you want to show that you’re my friend, repost this. I want to see how many true friends I have on here”.

It’s so stupid, and it’s always old boomers who repost that shite. Lol
I don’t understand the appeal of that and why some many old people participate in that junk.

All the world’s problems started when olds got on social media. We didn’t have the social media destroying society crisis when it was just high school and college people on myspace and facebook.

Boomer is used by mainly white male soy boys who are waiting for their Boomer parents to die so they can move out of the basement and claim the whole house..

You see, young pup, there use to be this thing phenomenon called “chain emails.”

Ask your parents about them

Most boomers are technologically illiterate and quite frankly retarded when it comes to social media.

It’s always the boomer at work who clicks the link and gets everyone a cyber security training assignment.

Facebook is a fascinating sociological experiment in real time. It's a real window into social learned behavior and 'group think'.

The absolute worst people on facebook - at least on mine - are middle-aged and older white Americans. I'm not sure exactly why that is.

My page is right at 50% American friends. The rest are a good mix of Canadian, Japanese, Thai, British with a few others thrown in. A pretty even mix of conservative and liberals.

The happiest people on there are the Thai people which is pretty true in real life. The quietest and least opinionated are the Japanese. True again.

For some reason, older white Americans love to express unsolicited general opinions especially with politics. I assume this is because a whopping majority of their 'friends' are in the same demographic. It's probably why the Japanese don't give opinions as openly due to cultural behavior and pressure.

I don't know.....I think this is what I find interesting about social media in general is how different groups of people use it in their own unique way.

Or the parents had a reverse mortgage and junior finds out he can’t pay off the bank.

They grew up with chain letters where people would receive a letter and then physically mail the same letter to a dozen or so people. It was like a group text back before computers.

Bc FB is changing their policies and if you don't repost this message they will be able to access all your information.

They should familiarize themselves with terms like Medicaid Estate Recovery and Five Year Lookback.
