Why do kids go to college and start leaning left? I have a theory.

Since college students are overwhelmingly liberal (60 percent of 18- to 29-year olds supported Obama in 2012, compared to Romney’s 36 percent), Theres no doubt that gap has widened since Trump.
So why do conservative kids go to college and end up turning liberal?
I have a theory, I had a friend whose family was the most conservative leaning ever, like you cant have a black friend, but after 3 years he isn't going to vote for Hillary or any thing, but he wont vote for Trump either, and he has turned into a full environmentalist, 100% save the planet, something he wouldn't do a year before he got to college.
My theory is that this is what you're going to see more in the future, they're not going to be leaning left heavy, but kids who go to college from now on will be heavily influenced, and for me the important thing is that these kids will make decisions on their own. Pre College, most of these kids will make political decisions based on their parents, after that they'll make that on their own.
College kids are voting overwhelmingly left more than ever, but that isn't even more point, kids are starting to think left more than ever because there's a hive mentality, and kids just do not care about politics like before, they just want to have fun with their friends and if it means adapting their philosophy to their friends, they're going to do it.

As a 31 year old non traditional student it's because they are spoiled shits who then feed off of professors who have no real world experience outside of a college.

College/university is meant to expose you to new ideas/cultures. That’s why college people tend to be liberal. Then, the exit and get into the real world.

I had an English teacher (actually was from England) tell our 1001 class at LSU that it was a lie that gay people are more susceptible to HIV. She had no formal training in biology or healthcare. Why was she telling us this—idk.
She was making it seem like some right wing conspiracy meant to marginalize gays. The fact is you do have higher rates of HIV in gay folks and they should be educated of that.

I’m as conservative as they come and my best man/friend is black. Only time race is used in us politics today is on the left in the case of identity politics. Pin everyone vs the straight white man
