They’re young and very impressionable, and wanting to become their own person, and seen as a thinking adult, so they are quite easily manipulated by leftists who fill academia for just that purpose, to sway young minds and affect the future to a socialist outcome.
Hollywood does the same thing in manipulating the masses. They learned it from their manipulation of people during ww2 in film in galvanizing the public in war along side of the government.

In general the more educated you become the more liberal you become and the older you get the more conservative you become.
This is more of in a big picture kind of way and transcends political party politics.

This is an observation that backs up the indoctrination theory. "Education" puts ideas in the heads of young adults that have not really experienced the real world yet. Once the experience the real world, they generally see that reality doesn't match those ideas.

Except there hasn't been a huge drop off from liberal voters in their 20s compared to their 30s.
2008:
66% 18-29 in 2008 voted for Obama.
2018:
58% 30-44 in 2018 voted Democrat. 8% dropoff vs 2008 rates but also, not a direct comparison for the group as the 40+ part wasn't in that 2008 group and the youngest part of is still counted in the 18-29 group.
Still, very modest drop vs how they voted in their 20s. There's some shift republican, but it's not nearly what the conventional wisdom about getting conservative as you age would have you think.

I think it has more to do with independence and comfort with individualism. Which does come from real experience.
However the age in which that happens is probably rising with millenials. It's not uncommon to live with parents over the age of thirty.

Need to look at correlation vs. causation here.
And also differentiate between social and fiscal liberal.
I can certainly understand people becoming more socially liberal as they become more educated or worldly.
But fiscally liberal with more education... nah.
