Why do people take their entire families to the grocery store and block every aisle they go down?

I opened this thread fully expecting to hate on the OP for exaggerating something that he experienced one time but then I read this thread and apparently this is a common thing

And I don't get it

My wife came to my vasectomy because I couldn't drive home, but even then she waited in the waiting room. I don't understand why she would come to a routine or non invasive doc appt?

Yea same, if it's major or I can't drive after she'll come. But man, there are a lot of helpless/careless supposed grown arse men here. How do y'all make it through life lacking the ability to retain certain information or pay attention for 20 minutes at a time.

No. What I find funny is that OP (whom I consider an eFriend of mine) has a phony baloney doctor job, is being replaced by FNPs & PAs faster than you can shake a AI chatbot at and chooses, now, to complain about a relatively minor annoyance on his very, very easy, very, very high paying job that has been present since the GP/FP practice was invented.

How old? Patient this morning was in his late 30s.

After reading your entire post had you said he was 65-66, ok.

For this dude to be 35 and not be able to answer those questions is really pathetic. I could see an elderly couple but this is some liberal feminist hogwash or dude is limp wristed.

I bring my wife so she can interpret what the doctor tells me. For example as I was leaving the doctors office last time I told my wife, well at least the doc said I can masturbate whenever I want to. She says, that’s not what he said, he said you could have a stroke at anytime.

If you are going for just a routine check-up, there is no need to have someone with you. However, if you are going for any issue, it helps tremendously to have someone with you to ask questions and hear what the doctor says.

—because they say, “I’m going with you to the doctor.” Can’t fight it

I have never brought my wife along for a doctor's visit unless the doctor said I was going to need someone to drive me home after some procedure. Similarly, my wife does not bring me along unless she needs someone to drive her for similar reasons.

That said, if I was going to find out about something seriously wrong or dangerous, I would ask her to come along simply because she knows more about medical stuff than I do and would ask better questions.

Nothing wrong with having a spouse there but deferring to spouse to answer questions they should know? That is something my teen does.

I don't go with my husband but he will never go to the doctor. In the twenty years we've been together he's been dismissed from practices at least three times for not going enough. He's a perpetual "new patient" when things come up which is frustrating because it means waiting months to get in most places.

It is pretty good to have someone with you that can help ask questions you may forget to ask or remember what the dr says. I don't see the problem here...easier to bring her than have to ask a ton of questions if she doesn't go.
Shame you need help being an adult.

I need someone to tell me what to do.

And then tell me I’m doing it wrong.

Most men are like me and hate going to the dr and think it’s a sign of weakness and our wives make appointments for us without our permission because they “know better”

WTF? Are you a child and she's your mommy? You cant ask your own questions or remember what you were told about your own health? You have been infantilized.
