I bring my wife when I can because she is a nurse and when I get home she will ask me all kinds of questions that I obviously didn't ask the doctor about. Its not about me not knowing what info I need, Its about me not wanting to deal with the BS of not knowing the extra shite my wife wants to know.
"I have no idea what my heart rate was, the doctor never mentiuoned it so I guess its fine."
Now bring on the downvotes because I am less of a man for making my life easier.

Not sure. I bring my wife on business trips if it’s a desirable location. Love having her with me as we’re partners in life.

Can’t speak for everyone, but I know my information. I just don’t like filling out forms.

My clinic is a nice clinic but it is not a desirable destination.

Maybe you need to spend more time mopping the floors and cleaning the toilets instead of complaining on Tigerdroppings all day.

More times than not doctors are a waste of time. A couple clicks on his little lap top and within seconds the arrogant prick can see exactly what medications I’ve picked up from the pharmacy in the past year.
And Mr overinflated ego, I don’t want to answer your questions about alcohol. How about you look at the results of the overpriced bloodwork you just ordered and you tell me if I drink or not. Either my body is showing signs that I drink too much or it isn’t. It’s showing signs I need to work out more or it isn’t. It’s showing signs I need to eat different or it isn’t. You aren’t some life coach, I’m paying you to evaluate my bodies health.
Also my wife is easy on the eyes, you should be thanking me for bringing her you queer

I was in and out on consciousness on the couch when she got home, my temp was 104.4, highest I’ve seen on myself

Ah, good point. Maybe him being queer and all is the reason he hates women showing up at the doctor's office. Maybe he just wants an office full of dudes

What kills me is the 20-somethings girls that still have their mom schedule their appointments.

I guess this is why my physician never asks me about drinking or anything like that. If my labs are good, he doesn’t give a shite about my social habits

This wife was fat even by Louisiana standards.

ETA: Here is an example from today.
The wife is tired of the husband complaining about his back at home.
She makes an appointment for him.
The husband is mad at the wife for making said appointment.
The wife goes with him because she know the husband will skip if if she doesn't.
The husband is giving short/incomplete answers to get back at his wife for making him feel inferior.
Everything you post is explained by family dynamics.
Did you even do a psych rotation during residency?

I was an RN for 29 years. I worked in the outpatient setting for many years. There are a lot of men who I have no idea how they made it through life without their wife. They knew nothing about their health history, surgical history, who their other doctors were, or what medications they took. This was the norm, not the exception. The guys that actually knew something were rare. Usually men who were accountants, engineers, educators, or in the medical field had a better grasp, but not always.
I set up a lot of procedures in the clinic or in the OR. Almost always I was speaking to the wife about times, dates, pre op instructions etc…
This has always baffled me. Most men just don’t seem to know much about their own health. It’s like it’s a burden to them so they let their wife handle it.

I can’t understand the doctors with a foreign accent.

I disagree with you, on the account that there is nothing wrong with your wife being with you. However, south Louisiana, or even the entire south in general, has this weird epidemic of men thinking it is cool to be dumb. So that's probably all it is.

I don't have to have my wife go with me, I can fend for myself just fine, she wants to go and spent about 25 years in the medical profession, speaks the lingo, and knows the right questions to ask if I don't ask them, also knows more about the billing and insurance end then any of the current generation
My wife is the same way. She’s a pro with meds and insurance. She’s also a decent driver when my knees have been pumped full of Euflexxa and are stiffer than normal.

I just gave my wife access to "My Chart" account. She knows what the Dr's finding are and if there is an issue. I do not wan't to know about hers. I'll find out if it's serious, but no way I want updates on her "female" problems.

I like the fact that my wife wants to go with me at least she cares. What do you bring?your dog or your mommy?
