It's amazing most men live as long as they do.

Depends.

Serious issue, absolutely.

Routine stuff, nah.

If you're married and your wife is facing something significant, I hope you've got enough sense to go with her.

I am obviously talking about routine stuff. Like the reason for the appointment and what medications the man takes.

my wife is concerned about my well being as I am with hers. It makes her feel more comfortable hearing the doctor speak herself and asking questions. As we age I will depend on her to help me manage any issues that arise and she will certainly become my caregiver

that’s why she goes to the doctor with me. Sorry that makes you mad you could try some decaf or change your tampon

My wife has only been to one appointment with me, and it wasn’t even a full appointment I just needed her to drive me to the Dr. office so that I could get swabbed for the flu, I was running a 104 fever and couldn’t reliably drive myself.

Or get a new wife. Assuming he even has one.

I’ve never asked her to, but my wife goes to all my cardiologist appointments.

An adult with 104? How'd you even get in the car?

At least hold her coffee cup to keep it hot.

Because when they get home the wife will ask "what did the Dr say "

Husband: shrugs shoulders - "I don't know".

That's why they go

This is definitely a thing, especially with older folks
Cancer, major surgery - sure bring your wife

But you'd be amazed how many 55yo+ guys have no idea what medical problems they have, what medications they are on, and have no ability whatsoever to cook clean or do anything themselves. It's pathetic - they have nearly no ownership of their daily life. These type of guys will basically starve to death if their wife dies or stays in the hospital.

I think it's pathetic for any guy <60 to need their wife or anybody else for a routine appointment. Take responsibility for your health and don't be a burden on someone else.

It's one of the rare times we can eat a meal or do a little shopping by ourselves is the main driver. We both have flexible jobs, so we can take days off whenever to do this type stuff.

Schedule a 10:00 appt
Drop the kid off at school
Head to appointment
Get out of appointment
Grab a bite to eat
Shop around a little bit
Head back to the hometown in time to pick up the kid from school

Solid day spent with my life partner.

For a procedure, i understand that so a person can drive you home but just normal everyday type stuff, that is really sad.

Its like having your wife have to walk you through being an adult everyday and make sure you do what your supposed to

I don't bring my wife, but I could see the advantage of this. Way less questions to answer when you get home. Also, you don't have to hear "why didn't you ask him this or tell him that."
