I am stubborn AF, my wife cares and makes the appointments. I like her to come along in case I forget some shite.

I don’t really see the problem here

I think this epidemic is a figment of your imagination. The only times I see what you're describing is with old retired geriatric baws and they're wives don't have shite else to do. Plus they likely have glaucoma and can't drive themselves.

Nah this is absolutely real.

Had to do a rotation in a retail pharmacy back when I was a student.

Would constantly get calls of people asking what their doctor called in and being surprised of what was sent in. Its like people go to a doctors visit and don't listen to anything that was said. Almost like daydreaming back when you were in school.

Had one baw pick up some eye drops that he was supposed to use after his eye surgery. Clearly says right there on the label, use after procedure Came pick them up a few days early. Shows back up 2 days after procedure and claims he is out, started using them the day he picked them up.

God forbid a man bring the person who loves him the most to the doctor for support. It's not the fault of others that no one loves you.

Is a rural north Louisiana accent considered foreign in rural central Louisiana?

My wife comes with me maybe half the time. Half of my doctors visits I remember absolutely nothing the doctor tells me.

You really should remember it though unless you have Alzheimer’s.

I enjoy my wifes company and if she is off she likes to go. She doesn't have to answer medical history questions for me. But wither way, your gripe is just completely ridiculous, who cares.

Not gonna lie. I can't relate to this at all, so I can't speak to it. The only time my wife came to any of my appointments is once when she were already in the car while we were riding around. So, it made more sense instead of sitting in the car.

Flip side: if your wife doesn’t care and doesn’t want to come with you, you may have chosen poorly.

You will be amazed at how many grown men neglect their health. I used to work offshore and would see people drop dead at 50, then come to find out during casual convos, the crew in their 40's an 50's have not seen a doctor in 5+ years. No checkups, no bloodwork, no dental work, nothing. I have seen men missing half their teeth, even though the company provides dental insurance. They are also some cheap SOB men out there who don't want to get a medical bill or pay for life long prescriptions like cholesterol meds, but they will happily spend good $ on that side-by-side, F-Series, and that hunting stand.

Often times its the wife dragging a dipshit husband to the doctor. Usually the wife is neurotic and researches the hell out of everything and then overreacts.

I am on top of my health but can always do better. Wife may tell me something I should do, but I will make that appt and go. Wife has never taken me to a doctor and spoke for me, unless I was under anesthesia.

south Louisiana, or even the entire south in general, has this weird epidemic of men thinking it is cool to be dumb. So that's probably all it is.

I just gave my wife access to "My Chart" account. She knows what the Dr's finding are and if there is an issue. I do not wan't to know about hers. I'll find out if it's serious, but no way I want updates on her "female" problems.

Point made in like 2 posts.

I was an RN for 29 years. I worked in the outpatient setting for many years. There are a lot of men who I have no idea how they made it through life without their wife. They knew nothing about their health history, surgical history, who their other doctors were, or what medications they took. This was the norm, not the exception.

Yeah, I imagine most of the dudes on here aren't like this just by nature of the type that internet forums attract, but let's not act like a chunk of the older generation of men at the very least aren't helpless in a lot of ways outside of their jobs.

I've seen men who don't know how to operate the dishwasher or clothing washer. Who have to call their wives to ask where basic shite is if she's out of town for the first time ever. It's not really a stretch these same men can't manage their health on their own.

As soon as you have to deal with

“Did you ask this? Did you tell them about blah blah? Did you get them to check this ? What exactly did the Dr. say”

You just say “f it just come next time.”

Only take them for a semi important visit
