We do both actually and we enjoy a very high standard of living as a result. Sorry a dumb barrner has an issue with following building codes but its not a legit reason to overhaul the system.

and I don't understand why some people think the "free market" should be elevated over literally EVERY other concern.

yes, I am pro-free market, and yes preserving that is important but it's not an actual deity like some people treat it.

What about the employees rights? So if an office worker or any employee becomes semi-disabled, he should just lose his job or be uncomfortable? Lots of people with disabilities can drive a truck and pour concrete. The race stuff is just stupid. No community should allow that type of discrimination. Any citizen should have the right to roam and shop wherever they want. Anybody that doesn't believe that doesn't believe in freedom, which is the greatest thing we all have..

Yes. Say you were allergic to chicken and the only restaurant you came across was a KFC or Popeyes and all they had was chicken. Could you sue them for not accommodating your allergy? My point is that businesses should be able to choose without worry of lawsuits.

There many other examples besides a restaurant. Private ambulance services, hospitals, grocery stores, mechanics, in rural areas. If they are the only options a black person has but they get rejected for color, that's pretty bad.

Because a true Alpha in your industry would come along and take all of your business. We learned this lesson with the timber and oil Barron's.

that's pushed 24/7 by most media outlets and politicians.
So media and politicians blame white males 24/7?

Maybe I don't watch the news enough, I'd like to see some example of that from this past week or so.

There are these things called "negative externalities."

A typical example is pollution. If we didn't have regulations, you could put anything in gas, power plants, etc. and cause disease, suffocating smog, etc. One could argue that the "market" would correct for this eventually, which might include depopulating half the earth. Most stable-minded people don't want to deal with such corrections.

Another example would be unregulated food safety which would kill and sicken some folks, and then we'd stop buying said product. Too bad for the dead consumers though.

This is where the argument starts going off the rails. We're not talking about the past 250 years, we're talking about right now or even within the last 10 years. Stop marginalizing people for being tired of being blamed for the "struggles" of every woman and minority in modern society. In fact, women and minorities have every advantage possible for success but it's easier to blame some shadowy figure rather than take some responsibility.

Where does it stop though if you allow businesses to bypass laws in the name of free market. What If you don't want to spend the money to follow fire codes? Can you sacrifice the safety of your customers and employees with hidden violations? That is something that from the outside could look fine but behind the walls is a disaster waiting to happen.
I agree with the OP to an extent, but just trying to drum up conversation.

Oh yea, pretty sure being a white male is still more idea than any other race/gender combo in the last 10 years, by a long shot.

Still wondering where the 24/7 coverage is that blames white people, seems just a bit overstated.

That's such horseshite. I'm not using that term in the scenario of men being treated as second class citizens like blacks in the 1920's but rather the scapegoat for the failures of those who cannot succeed on their own while being given legally sanctioned advantages.

Watch any news outlet for an hour or more and you'll see it. Let's not forget online media as well. Don't act as if that doesn't reach millions daily.

The whole "privilege movement" is also a complete sham that appeals to the weak-minded and self-loathing.. There's white privilege, black privilege, Hispanic privilege, Asian privilege, etc. If everyone has privilege, no one has privilege.

There's this pesky little document called the Constitution (and it's attached Bill of Rights) that liberals and social engineers have ignored or trampled on. Where in the USC does it give the federal government the right to meddle in local businesses*?

*Please read the 10th Amendment and explain to me how what 90% of what the federal government does not blatantly illegal? (Thanks, FDR)

The concept of "free market" has only led to exploitation.

Minimum wage workers are exploited by their employers.

The government subsidizes employers who pay minimum wage level wages.

Greedy Wall Street managers have moved factories overseas, displacing hard working union labor.

The uber wealthy have gotten more uberily wealthy.

I'm not here to debate the constitutionality of taxes and federal regulations.
