We have these hackers just going after 100s of decent companies trying to collect ransoms from data hacks OR they're doing all this disinformation/Russia collusion BS.
Why aren't they actually going after the credit companies, the student loans databases, the Epstein Files, etc. ?

There's plenty of whitehat hackers working for Fortune 500 companies and the like. You just don't hear of them as much because they usually don't get arrested and/or break the law... no overtly anyway.

The first rule of fight club is …
You pay attention to .01% of hacks because you’re fed all your news through social media. Get some agency in your life and get a better job.

There are ethical hackers. There are just more looking for an easy path to money, which is finding a vulnerable system and exploiting it to whatever ends they are seeking.
Also the vast majority of hackers are state sponsored and the states that sponsor them have a different opinion on what the good of society means.

Same reason socialism and communism don’t work.

Baw, do you not watch movies? They have to be caught by the Feds first. Then, in exchange for no prison time they get to go to work for the FBI helping bust other hackers. It is the circle of hacker life.

why doesnt the news report positive news?

There actually are things called ethical hackers. There job is to hack to shore up issues.
But I have an interesting question for you. You used credit companies, the student loans databases as examples.
So what good for society would it be going after the credit companies? I have 94,000 in available credit with 0% rolling utilization with a 820 credit score. What good what it do going after them? Just my identity stolen.
What good would it do for going after student loans database? So you wipe federal student loan debt, erasing all the taxes that people paid to hand out those loans with no payback for our economy as a whole. What good did that do as a whole outside of the people that had their student loans wiped?

How could hackers make the deadbeats pay what they owe?

I wish someone would hack and publish the Congressional harassment payout database.
And a Secret Swiss Bank Account database.

I remember when the Anonymous morons said they were going to hack the cartels. They backed off that quickly.
