Who’s gonna take over the luxury lake houses and mountain mansions when boomers die?

I’m sitting up here in a 1000 sq foot Airbnb condo in Breckenridge, Colorado that goes for 1.2 million, we are surrounded by mansions that are 5 million plus and I’m hit with the question….
Who is gonna fill these when the boomers die that bought them for 600k? fricking boomers got the sweetest deal of any generation in the history of the world.
Lake houses for 100-200k back in the day, mountain mansions for 600k, who’s gonna fulfill these listings when they die and go up for sale and they’re listed for 5 million?
The cheapest thing in this neighborhood is 300 sq feet for 490k.
Their millennial kids will most likely prefer to sell them for the cash instead of inheriting them and paying the taxes and fees that come with maintaining a second home
Inb4 work harder and we walked 6 miles uphill both ways to buy those properties

Another rich person.
Or nobody until the price goes down.
But I’m guessing another rich person.

Supply vs demand curve.

Whoever that multimillion valuation has in mind. If nobody would buy it the value is $0

beaches and mountains will always have buyers

I would say they'd sit until prices drop and then get bought up by private equity firms building rental portfolios, but now that's illegal* for single family homes.
So they'll sit and the prices will drop more until some other rich person wants in.
*obviously exceptions.. but this limits the buyers.

If the heirs don’t want it, other rich Americans
Or rich foreigners
Or investment groups
Or lack of demand causes price drops until bought

Oh good, some more boomer bashing. It’s been five minutes.

How many boomers are the billionaire ruling class? I venture to say not many.
Boomers were smart with their money, didn't spend $7 on a cup of coffee or $200 eating at fancy restaurants or buy $100k SUVs on a $100k salary or send their kids to private school or buy 2500sf houses as starter homes.

Are your financial decisions as poor as your assumptions. My kids love our second home and will enjoy it with their children. It’s where many family memories were made.

Are these boomers in the room with us now? Quality real estate will be fine and will hold or increase its value over time.

I have several friends who are in their early 50s who have lake houses and ski town houses. Own a business, save early, live well later on.

I had a conversation last week with a holder in real estate in Houston and we're talking about some of the nicer areas that because the surrounding areas have deteriorated so much since 1960 for people in Houston are losing value as new owners move in.. you know what im getting at
I was asking him what would He thought of converting the neighborhoods with these large nice mansions where this scenario is of concern,, thats the new buyers are not white
and i pondered whether an HOA would consent to new owners converting them into many apartments or group housing, so someone could have a very nice lifestyle with all those amenities out in the suburbs and keep the Indians out

Those boomers better get these housed cleaned before they die.
Making someone inherit a dirty million-dollar house would be mean!
