Use to be my mom, but I can cook better than her now..... she rushes things too much. My wife can put out a good meal, but everything won't be ready at the same time. For instance, she'll make hamburgers and fries and after the burgers are done she'll cook the fries.

My wife
My mom left home to attend school and learned to cook a little. I don’t fault her at all.

I do 90% of the cooking at my house. I'm better than my mom, but can't approach the grandmothers.....

They both suck. Now my wife's mother can cook. I'm hoping the Mrs. picks up a few tips from MIL

They are both great cooks, my wife gets the nod currently, but in my mom’s prime I would rate them equally. They both cook predominantly Cajun, but outside of gumbo my wife makes more onion gravies and my mom roux gravies. Their menus are also a little different, my mom is DTB and my wife is Basin, which means I get the best of everything. I definitely can’t complain!

About a year or so after my Momma died I found some shrimp stew and some gumbo that she had cooked in my freezer.

I cried, smiled, laughed and cried the whole time I ate it. RIP Momma. and Thanks for everything. I wasn’t worthy to be your son.

Both my grandmothers had maids who cooked for them, so when they had to cook themselves the results were underwhelming. My mother taught herself to be an excellent cook, and used to throw lavish dinner parties where we kids got to sample all the foods before being packed upstairs to bed. My wife learned great Creole and Italian dishes from her mother and grandmother. I call it even between my wife and mother.

My Paternal Grandfather taught my Grandmother and my Mom how to cook and they are or were all top notch. My MIL is a sweet lady but her cooking is basic therefore my wife’s cooking started out basic but has gotten better over the years. Like others have said I’m the better cook between me and my wife. My wife can’t cook meat for shite because she likes shite well done. All meat and Louisiana cuisine is done by me if you want it to be good.
