The second they legalized this and fanduel / competitors were the commercials and sponsors during sporting events, anyone with a brain knew this would lead to major issues.

Don't blame the Sports Betting books, blame the individual and banks that lent him the money through credit card transactions on the sports wagering sites.

If I was a bank, I would put extra scrutany if a customer was using a credit card for sports betting or cash withdrawls at a casino.

I was at an MGM property recently and saw a sign saying that business card transactions were no longer going to be processed at the the property. So that meant someone with a Business Credit card must have racked up a ton of charges and cash advances using a Business card or debit card and the company that had the card tried to skip out on the bill as fraud.

That is why some company cards are in the names of individuals and the individual is responsible for the bill instead of the company. The company will just pay their portion of business expenses on the bill.

Combine that with the 1.5% cash back on the credit card? Hell, we're entering HYSA territory now.

when my wife worked for a fraud department, she would get several calls a day about suspected fraud on peoples debit cards due to online gambling - and they would always say it was fraud, despite it happening for months previous. funny how only the money lost was fraud.

sucked cause it would be flagged that and on the FI's to deal with.

I’m so glad I don’t have that gambling gene. I have other issues, but gambling isn’t one of them.
