Day to day bills are my wife.

I handle budgets, savings, and retirement.

To a degree neither of us do. Every bill outside of property tax bills are all automated as well as our savings. I keep up with the 7 property tax bills and pay my quarterlies outside of that there really isn't much to deal with. We each buy our own toys with our account and I don't think either one of us has more than a rough idea of what is in our accounts at any one time.

I pay the big bills she pays the small ones and never the two shall meet, she can change the car insurance whenever she wants, I’ll handle the rest.

My wife is a CPA. Not including her is just stupid.

So is mine. I make three times more than she does. She manages a small private 6-8 million annual company. I figure she can handle our bills.

She handles paying bills and whatnot and I manage investing the excess and retirement accounts.

I've always been the separate finances type, but I'm going to have to take more of an interest.

My wife makes considerably more than I do, but is penniless.

She doesn't have debt. I do. But I could come up with 70k without breaking a sweat. She likely couldn't go pull a grand out of the bank.

Her parents taught her bad habits. I'm slowly teaching her better ones.

God.

I never look at my bank account, I just pray I have enough each month. Hasn’t failed me yet

Nonetheless, for the most part, we do discuss big ticket purchases beforehand. So there is communication which is what is most important.

I’m always curious about how this actually works. Any kids involved? Do you know if your wife if maxing out 401k? I understand separate checking accounts for gifts/“fun money”, but this level of separation blows my mind.

I do 100%, I will ask my wife her opinion on certain things regarding finances and she typically just says “whatever you think is best”.

My wife. But I have equal input on expenditures. She'll even ask me if she can buy a certain item and I'll do the same. We're equal about how frugal we are on spending , especially in these times. It usually comes down to, "Do you want it?" or "Do you need it?" It works because we've been married for 36 years. lol

I make the money and handle retirement and insurance. My wife handles everything else.

She used to do taxes for a living. And she is a better shopper than me. I like not having to think about it.

I cannot imagine not being involved with finances. Money is the universal language. We are all working for it and if you don’t actively manage what’s the point?

If my wife handled the finances in my household we wouldn’t have a household after a few months.
