re: Beginner at all things investing, building wealth, etc - tigersfan1989
Once again I agree money is not everything in life. I honestly don’t see people bragging and putting others down about what they have or have not accomplished on this board. Everyone is on their own journey and it’s not a race to see who can accumulate the most. None of this is happening on this boa...

At what age did you reach your first $1 million excluding your personal residence? This can be 401k, investment accounts, investment real estate, businesses, etc. And what was the main driver (source) if you don't mind sharing....

re: Question about 401K, and contribution limits - tigersfan1989
At the end of year I roll after tax contributions into Roth IRA and can get access to the contributions in the ira at any age with no penalty. Just can’t touch the gains. And once in the Roth it grows all tax free. I’ve deff gonna make a call and see what’s goin on with the whole over 19k thing bc I...

Employed by one of the largest companies in the sector. No side work. I found this on invesopedia talking about the 56k combined about half way down the page. https://www.investopedia.com/retirement/401k-contribution-limits/...

re: Question about 401K, and contribution limits - tigersfan1989
19k is the limit for pretax contributions for you. If you want to put more in 401k you can do after tax contributions after you maxed out your 19k pre tax. Like previous poster said max you and employer combined can contribute in a year is 56k ...

re: Opinions needed on Roth vs Traditional IRA - tigersfan1989
Never heard of traditional ira not being available. Traditional ira is available if you have 401k. You just may not get the tax deduction of contributing to a traditional ira depending on your income. In which case you just do backdoor Roth ...

re: Opinions needed on Roth vs Traditional IRA - tigersfan1989
You can’t get back those years of tax savings on 401k contributions. Also every year that goes by you can’t go back in time and contribute that 6k to each ira. The more in retirement the earliest you can the more compound earnings works for you. I’d go after 22 k first just because aggressively payi...

re: Changes in tax laws effecting decisions - tigersfan1989
Another example I am going to use this year is the changes to the child tax credit. You can get $2000 credit per child but is only refundable for 1400. So it would seem wise to not pay quite as much in taxes throughout the year so you can benefit from the full 2000 credit when you file taxes seeing ...

Changes in tax laws effecting decisions - tigersfan1989
Just a general question I was wondering about. How has changes to tax laws change how you operate your personal household? Or does it? For example the trump tax reform increases standard deduction to 24k so naturally I would think about paying off a personal residence rather than an investment prope...

re: Opinions needed on Roth vs Traditional IRA - tigersfan1989
Yea my bad I guess right now he would already be over the 15% mark if he puts 19 k in each 401k. I think I was referring to later down the road if op makes more. Good catch ...
