I've spent a lot of time in both (I live in New Orleans). Memphis is very similar.

New Hampshire. It’s kind of trashy, but it has nice things about it. And it has an inferiority complex.

Nah there aren’t many Catholics in SC, there are a good bit of mountains, and the people are really scared of alligators and manage to get eaten by them yearly despite the state not having that many compared to Louisiana.

Maine's coast, if you're talking coastal and French influence. Obviously some weather differences.

am in the Gulfport/Long Beach area often and they are basically suburbs of NOLA. LSU/Saints gear everywhere, Shrimp Po Boys sold at every restaurant, a good population of people who "talk like us", etc.
Lol so not true. Brother lives there and everyone sounds like they are from North La. lol nah son

While not the correct answer, I visited Munich last year and sorta surprised to learn it’s the area (Bavaria) that is mostly into drinking and dancing. Also mostly Catholic.

Made me think about how Louisiana had a big German influence in early days of state. We might not have sausage in our gumbo if not for the German (and Native American) influence. Apparently German immigrants and Native Americans bonded over their love of sausage (insert joke here).

Ok honestly? With respect to the outdoors and having a good time, its Wisconsin.

I know what you're thinking. WTF??

They hunt and fish. They have local cuisine that is actually really good but also really bad for you. They care irrationally about their local college and pro team. Most baws are overweight and strangely comfortable with it. In the summer it literally feels like the devils anus.

FINALLY. They are legit world class alcoholics. Its the only place ive been to in the country where they feel the same about drinking as we do in NOLA. Like, i forget which one but like the 3rd largest brewery in the country is located there and they only sell in the state.

PS. the women. marrone. they are sneaky hot. Maybe not crazy Chatelain or Guidry hot but omg they will keep you warm in the winter.

Does this migration influence the local food and the names you see? Lots of French names?

I don’t live in south ms but I imagine yea it does.

Just a quick google search of say the Gulfport high baseball roster and there’s a decent amount of French names on the roster. I imagine the majority of their families came from Louisiana

In my fraternity at LSU, someone pointed out that everyone from Lafayette in it is under 5'8". I stopped to think about it, and he was right. I could count 25 guys from Laffy, and every single one was short.

In contrast all the guys from Shreveport were taller in the fraternity.

This is the correct answer. Great seafood, wet and marshy and lots of black folks.

It's most certainly not the correct answer if you're talking about the inhabitants. The Low Country has way more of a genteel, old South vibe. It's not full of a bunch of crude low bred mutts.
