If you had respect for language then you would respect the fact that language evolves all the time. Your grandparents think you sound like an idiot too.

Wife, to every Uber driver we've ever had: "what part of town do you live in"

Every Uber driver we've ever had: "I stay over in..."

I can't remember the original artist of the song 'Red House' but I always liked Jimi's version and especially the line 'There's a red house over yonder, that's where my baby stay' and the last line 'cause if my baby don't love me no more, I know her sister will'.

Other than that song, I agree that the phrase bugs me for some unknown reason.

I can't speak to saving dishes, but "make groceries" has its roots in literally translating from French. Sparing the details, one saying they were going grocery shopping would use the verb "faire" which means to make or to do. So while most of us treated the phrase as idiomatic, you still have the relic in some regions from the literal translation.

“for the simple fact”
OMG, stab me through the fricking temples with a red hot spike, just because you say it’s a fact doesn’t make it a fact, chances are you have never actually tested that “fact” but simply like the sound of it or believe it makes your point believable or even remotely feasible, to which it does the exact opposite, STFU with that shite!!!
