I live in the country, with acreage, chickens, a garden, and good neighbors, about 6 minutes from the grocery store, and I don’t really like it.

Like Epictetus or Marcus Aurelius said, “where a man can live, there he can live well”.

The happiness is within you.

If you’re looking at small towns with low housing costs, there are reasons the costs are low, and first among those is there aren’t good jobs nearby.

Good thing we live in the new remote work world.

Haughton. Or Benton. Both growing fast. Have lakes, privacy and better than Shreveport or anywhere south

If I had to bet on and move to any city in the state for the next thirty years or more it’d definitely be Lafayette. They’re going to do well assuming things on a larger level don’t go to hell.

Smaller towns are going to be a mixed bag. You’re probably trading some combo of quality schools, job opportunities, and future growth prospects.
