Small town, and I mean small (under 500 people)

My nearest neighbor is a mile away. A lot of cows nearby, on family property where the owners are not likely to sell.

It is very quiet. There are country folks of a variety of races around, and everything is cool.

Having lived my childhood in Oscar, this is more saddening than surprising.

Oak Ridge. Will need to drive 30-40 minutes to go to dinner, movie, or doctors. But it’s pretty chill I’ve been told.

I could be wrong, but I think he said that because he just wants to keep more people from moving there.

While we ware at it I’d like to find 50-100 acres within 90 minutes of BR/NOLA with a pond to start paying on to retire one day. OT land folks help me find something.

Here's a thought, try not living directly within a town or city. Get at least an acre or two a little ways away from town. I'm only 25 min from lafayette and for groceries or hardware stuff, it's 5-15 min drive. Way better than dealing with any city or traffic.

Pine would be in front of Franklinton in that area now, imo.

I’d love to live down the road where I can watch the shrimp boats from my front porch…

Lake Charles but move to Moss Bluff or Ragley north of Lake Charles along 171. Some great public schools and while cost of living is higher it’s still not Youngville or Mandeville prices. It’s a nice place to raise a family with everything you need but not a lot of extra. Food in LC is great. Basically 3 hours to NOLA and 3 hours to Houston. I would consider Youngsville, Mandeville and Ruston also.

In order for me from a quality and cost of living…about the only 4 places I’d live in the state.

Lake Charles /Moss Bluff
Ruston / Choudrant
Youngsville
Mandeville

Damn that’s a shame. Sounds a lot like Ruston, it’s like the purge out here. The streets are hot.
