I'm getting to that age with my son that he's about to enter big 5A public school next year and likely won't make any of the teams beyond freshman year. He loves basketball,football,baseball but I doubt he will be cut out for varsity in anything.
But here's to hoping he grows a foot this Summer and becomes a beast like daddy did(JOKES!). If not. Ah well.
I enjoyed the 7 years of 3 seasons of little league games and I will miss it for sure. His last football game of 8th grade was bittersweet.

I always saw myself as the baseball dad. But my kids turned out to be nerdy so I have come to love supporting them at their Band Competitions and JROTC Drill Competitions.
I thank God they love going to watch baseball with me though

Mine played from 4-12, travel, all stars.... all that good stuff. When he was 13 he decided he wasn't playing that season. Tried out for his Freshman team and made it this year. Give the kid a break, you will both enjoy it.

I hate when parents try to live their lives through their kids. Not meaning you. But if have a grandson whose dad lives and breaths for baseball. He likes coaching and playing. His dad was never a good player but in his mind, he thinks differently. I feel sorry for the kid. I am sure when the kid gets old enough to tell his dad he doesn't want to play anymore. His father is going to get angry and find ways to punish him. The kid is brilliant but just isn't an athlete.

My hometown had Little League until we were 17. Lots of kids who were cut played LL. We would play school ball and LL at the same time. Do they not have that here?

as long as he didnt do it because the liberal filth taught him it was toxic masculinity then its ok
you should talk it out and find out why he no longer wants to, just in case there is more to it you dont know about such as bullying or other abuse

The advantages of a small school. If you have a pulse you can make the varsity.

That's a good idea. I'm sure he'll carry on playing basketball this way if HS ball doesn't work out.

You serious Clark? You are done with the schedule. now, you get to spend as much time with your kid as you want. Golf, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, cooking, and in 4 year beer drinking

Burn-out is a huge issue with youth sports if you push it too much

I'm serious about missing the sporting events where he was a good athlete.
But without question I look forward to bringing him to more away LSU Football games, Home LSU Baseball Series, vacations during Thanksgiving/Spring Break when he had practices otherwise. Etc. I gots a plan.

I hope you he has given alternatives.. From increased camping/fishing to joining an active club to trying another sport. No way will I let my sons be completely idle accept for summer.

Mine loves to fish. He is excited as all hell that his high school that he's going to has a club fishing team.
