It is disappointing to hear this. We were all looking forward to hearing the stories of his adventures in travel ball one day.

Was driving back from a duck hunting trip last Sunday. We went past a baseball complex. With a tourney going on.
Was 38 and howling wind.
I had flashbacks.. thank god im not 12 anymore

I mean I am so happy my parents put me in baseball. Made lifelong relationships and made some great memories in high school.

Jesus! So it's all or nothing? I think all kids need to do something to stay active, but if they are not into a certain sport there are a lot of other options for them to be active. If he enjoys doing one thing, forcing him to do something he doesn't want to do isn't going to make him enjoy it.

When I was a kid I told my dad every summer I didn’t want to play baseball. He signed me up every time anyways. I’m glad he did. Moments I’ve had with him playing that sport up through high school are something I’ll cherish forever.

My sister-in-law has a 9 year old boy that only likes ballet dancing and wearing his big sister's clothes. His parents are complete weirdos that encourage all of it.
At Christmas he saw me and his grandfather watching a football game and asked if we were watching baseball. The look of disappointment from the grandfather was unforgettable
The point is, it could be worse.

I think my 12 yr old needs to start putting in real work into the sports he plays, or wants to play. Transition from just for fun to I’m going to work to be the best, but he doesn’t want to hear that from me.

Pick another sport or get a job was my dads strategy. Maybe your son can start a lawn care gig.

Oh we both tried. We said something like, "No this is football. Want me to teach you how its played?" and he said no thanks very politely and walked out the room.
My father-in-law promptly walked to his wet bar and filled his scotch glass and we just didn't talk about it
He's so thankful I have a son that he knows will be into sports.
