Last raise I got at a job was 9%. 6 months later I changed jobs for a 66% increase. Taught me a valuable lesson.

This is the way.

Just become a business owner. If business is good you can give yourself a raise every Friday lol. Gave myself a decent raise last week.

I get raises by finding new jobs. Starting a new one October 2nd, and I'm getting a 20% raise.

10 years ago was the last significant , 2-3% annually since. I’m losing ground lately.

ETA. This was about a year ago.

Most research tells companies not to match offers because usually the person leaves within a year and their performance takes a hit from the resentment of having to go through the process of getting another offer. Usually if a company gives you a raise to match they are buying time to backfill and replace you. Good luck with you thinking you have that much leverage.

It’s funny that I’ve never been hourly for 21 years but they always break down my salary over the years to hourly on my paycheck. In 2002 it’s was $15.50 an hour and 21 years later it’s $31.50 an hr

I’ve gotten promoted and it’s gone up and I’ve been promoted and it’s gone down. Highest I’ve had was $25 before my last promotion and it went down to $23 and 9.5 years later I’m at $31.50.

I've increased my income by 12,000% since 2002. Thinking about writing a book to share my story, Journey to the Top of the Middle

This says something is terribly out of balance with our current labor system.

You ought to ask about a meaningful raise and stay at the same company.

You should be not only able to ask, but if you do a good job likely to receive one.

I’ve seen it both ways. I’ve seen my wife jump 100k plus on a major promotion and 20k to 50k up and down changing jobs after bonus and stock options.

I stayed with the same company she left and have made 4 times my income by going from operations to sales.

I work for a big corporation, however I’ve found myself getting decent raises so far being here. A little under 3 years, and so far I’ve seen 5 raises. 2 due to annual increase (3%), 2 due to promotions (15%), and one due to have another job offer in hand (18%). Last increase was actually last week for getting a title bump. They work me like a dog but have st least made sure to compensate me for it.

I fail to understand why people strike for a higher wage. It just makes it cost more to live hence devaluing our money / the dollar.

I’m in outside sales so I eat what I kill. We did get a $17,000 company contribution to company stock in August - which is doing slightly above average performance.
We haven’t had layoffs from our company and our parent company so that’s a blessing.
