Got 7% with my promotion last year, should be getting another 7% soon

Unless you're getting a major promotion, switching jobs is the best way to get a a significant pay bump.

You ought to ask about a meaningful raise and stay at the same company.

Every 6 months. But I am union…so there’s that.

I want to give you a $3 raise, your union thugs want to give you the same but split that up into 6 $0.50 raises so it looks like they are doing something, but they arent.

Was working an incredibly difficult job for years and never got more than a token cost of living raise, switched to much less demanding job for a 50% raise but had to relocate.
My last job sucked so much I was borderline suicidal at times.

Last October I received a 35% raise after taking off for over a month to work on some personal things

Are you an Iron worker as well? Hahaha

If my raise was only 3 bucks I wouldn’t clock in ?? my raises are substantial and I appreciate how lucky I am. California pays RNs well thankfully. I would love to believe that management would still give us fair raises but the union and management are both the same. Corrupt and always looking to screw the worker for their own gain.

Wife gets about 5% a year. I got 10% in july

I just switch jobs if I feel I’m underpaid. If I’m legitimately underpaid vs the market, my company is never going to match market so I don’t even waste my time asking.
I’ve increased my pay roughly 225% over the last 4 years.

That’s not how it works

As someone that’s been with the same company 11 years, this pisses me off. Not at you but at the companies, because then they go and hire your replacement for almost the same what you were asking

Which is why I don’t waste time asking for raises.
There are only three realistic outcomes. They say no and I’m looking to leave asap, they give me a meh raise that isn’t remotely close to market rate and I’m still feeling underpaid and looking to leave, or they give me a real market rate raise and they are looking to cut me at the first opportunity.
None of those 3 options appeal to me so I don’t bother.
