I’ve never cared too much other than a hand wash every couple months

My parents had three kids, but our cars were never full of french fries and crap like the garbage cars of parents I see now. My dad’s truck was often muddy from hunting trips, but that was about it.

We keep ours relatively clean, with frequent drive thru washes and an occasional trip to the one that cleans the interior and wheels. I no longer do it myself. Privilege.

I’ve never cared much about the exterior. I’ve always been a farm boy. Didn’t see much reason to clean it just for it to be dirty an hour later.

I kept the interior clean as hell until I had a toddler. There’s no keeping up with that one. I’ll clean it when she’s 10.

I don’t stress over my car being “clean”, but I don’t let junk or trash accumulate on the inside. It’s nothing to grab a handful of whatever every time you get out.

Dog. Dog park is down a dirt road and have to walk along dirt road to get to park. Backseat is entirely hers and is a mess.

Never.

And I have two boys that love making messes.

Clean cars and a clean home is good for one’s mental health.

Now does shite get messy (absolutely), but I never let it go beyond several days

Similar for us. We live in a rural area down a gravel road on a lake with mostly farms around us. Our car washes happen when we drive in the rain or when we take our vehicles out of the garage on purpose for a good ole country car wash in a rain shower. With that said, if any of the windows get too dirty, I will occasionally clean them so we can see better to drive.

I can’t say it any better than Cotton just did.

I have an old Yukon (dogmobile) that gets washed about every couple of moths and interior cleaned about twice a year.

I wash and vacuum my Nissan every month.

When I started driving a Wrangler. Would leave the mud slung all over it from the weekend. Park with the top down next to the sparking clean luxury cars at whatever Fortune 100 company I worked for at the time.

Guess I haven't reached that point of laziness yet. Vehicles are too expensive to to let be trashed

I actually got more serious about looking respectable when I had kids, to the contrary of a lot of other people in this thread. Hand wash my and my wife’s cars at least every two weeks but I try to do it weekly, wax around once a month, clay bar and paint correction every six months, full interior detail every 6 months. I want our kids to feel like they’re in a clean, respectable car.

I have some great memories of getting our cars washed every weekend with my dad when I was growing up so maybe that’s where it comes from

I kept my little Mazda pickup immaculate inside and out till about 150,000 miles. Then I unavoidably ran into a road south of El Dorado (ugh( that had just been tarred. Forget that. Kept kinda clean till traded in at 405,000.

I just got my first black vehicle so I treated myself to a monthly carwash membership & wash/vacuum every weekend.

I'm guessing a pro carwash and not one of those rocketfast deals?

You shouldn't take your new Maybach SUV through an automated system.

But its an obsession for him almost. It takes him about 3 hours every time he washes his truck, then if he washes his wife's car that's another 3 hours. He cleans the rims with a toothbrush. He doesn't miss a spot on the inside and he drives slow because he is worried about getting his truck dirty.

I'm not at this level. I do wash my car weekly inside/out though. Don't allow food or drinks inside.

I stopped caring for a few reasons. The first was because I got married and only use my vehicles for a utility, vs. pleasure. I don't hop in them anymore to just go take a ride. The second, when I realized how much a dealership's "trade-in value" does not care how good you took care of it, as it's only numbers to them. The third, when it became easy to just go buy another one. I now use my time to do other things that I enjoy more at this stage in my life.

I will, however, hire someone to clean them from time to time. One vehicle is a nice SUV and this one is cleaned more often. On the other hand, my truck was probably washed about three times over the course of the last 12 months.
