And people will buy that instead of using the same money to buy like 20-25 bananas.

The answer you're looking for is people need some justification for their bad eating habits as a defense mechanism for their shitty choices and just being too lazy to cook your own meals. It's easier to say "eating healthy is expensive" than to critically analyze your lifestyle habits.

When people say that, a lot of times what they mean is eating at fine dining establishments/restaurants that use fresher ingredients are more expensive than fast food.

Have an upvote... it most certainly is a bullshite excuse, and lazy. People simply do not know how to cook, and purchase, but most importantly prep and store. If they did, they’d make their own stock, freeze properly without throwing shite out that’s burnt, plan meals properly, and eat healthier with most of their food being veg and 7-8 oz of meat.

It’s always going to be cheaper to cook at your house, and if you’re smart you will end up doing most in house and save a ton of money in the process. The real problem here, and what separates us from those who came before us is the lack of knowledge and will to do it.

Scruffy has found that the vast majority of fast food has just started to both taste bad and just seem disgusting as he has aged.

It is relatively easy to eat healthy.

Honestly, there is one simple thing that would have a pretty big impact on most people:

Cut out soft drinks

Drink water.

bullshite. Or produce receipts showing that you only spend $200 on food for a month

I couldn't find a receipt but something to the effect of

20 lbs chicken $60
1 skin on salmon slab $18
2 packaged flank steak packs $40
2 chuck roast $24
Whole turkey brest $12
Pork chops $8
Assorted produce purchased throughout the month $50

Total $212

It's not that I doubt that these things can be purchased for this amount. I simply don't believe that you don't eat or buy anything else whatsoever.

I'll go out to eat with my friends probably twice a month on average on the weekends, but that's entertainment expense not food costs.

I don't eat breakfast, buy $13 worth of coffee about every other month along with peanut butter. Add a couple bucks for things I might pick up when I go that's a typical for example I went to Costco on March 7th this month and bought the Kirkland brand protein bars, ive eaten 2, but it's certainly not more than $250 a month.

I am not trying to argue that eating healthy is expensive and I think the majority of people that do not eat healthy do it for convenience or they have conditioned themselves to prefer the taste of sugar, salt and etc.

Processed foods tend to have very high caloric density which I think leans to credence to the fact it is cheaper to survive on, I use survive since I don't consider that living.

Take the Cheez-it and banana approach. A 12.4oz box of Cheez-it crackers is $2.66 at Walmart and has approximately 1800 calories. Based on Walmart's pricing 2.66 worth of bananas would yield 1000 calories.

I do agree some commodities like store-brand rice will flip that. I still argue calorie for calorie the cost of processed food is cheaper than the cost of making meals with fresh food once you tally up all the costs. That said the cost of eating healthy can be fairly close to eating crap if you are careful.

Chipotle is $8 so is Canes and McDonald. Hell, even the hot bar at Whole Foods is in that price range

You'd feel extremely full on 10 bananas. You can eat a box of xheez itz and wash them down with skittles

What? "Poor people can't afford eat healthy" is a classic liberal line.

You've even got lowTBoy in here all but saying it.

It’s not cheaper to eat out - but people are addicted to it. There’s so much sugar in all that stuff, it’s crazy.

We don’t eat out often bc it’s too expensive- I cook and my husband cooks - so it’s pretty easy, but that’s not the same for everyone. It’s just habits, and some people have bad habits.

My food costs (with 6 kids) are less than half my friend’s (2 kids) bc she doesn’t cook.

The myth probably got popular around the time women working got popular. Not as much time to cook and this lie makes you feel better.

shite happens when the gubment is handing out food stamp cards like candy.

If you work for your money, you view the products you buy in a different light.
