When did each of these things peak in the United States?

Public elementary school
Exterior vehicle design
Cell phones
Technology in general
Politics
NFL
NBA
MLB
NHL
Nascar
College sports
I am going to do my best to answer this list for myself:
Public elementary school - 2001, the year before the No Child Left Behind Act
Exterior vehicle design - 2007 / trucks were good size, BMWs and other nice cars rocked. Now they are just slight changes and copycats.
Cell phones - 2017 - iPhone X deleted the home button, and the worst apps hadn't been invented quite yet (although snapchat was there)
Technology in general - 2006 - I would like to go back to the world where Blackberry was king. Technology was useful but not inhibiting. Not needing all of this authentication and passwords for every little thing.
Politics - 1997 to 2000. Bill Clinton was president at the beginning of this window but hadn't been impeached. I actually remember my dad, a big conservative, going to see him speak and being excited about it. It was just a different time then when all of America believed the same stuff. I think this window ended with 9/11. This country changed at 9/11.
NFL - 2006 - I have nostalgia for LT's MVP season. And the QBs were awesome then. Manning, Brees, Brady, Favre, Vick.
NBA - 1998 Michael Jordan's last ring; players are more skilled now in general, but it wasn't a flopfest yet.
MLB - Now? Baseball seems to be in a great place. Pitch clock was brilliant.
NHL - Now? Obviously Gretzky years, but it seems to be gaining popularity.
Nascar - 2000 - Dale Earnhardt was still alive.
College sports - 2003 - LSU/Oklahoma/USC, we didn't realize how great that controversy was. Way better than modern portal/NIL nonsense.
Flame away, but I enjoy thinking of the good times, and I hope we return in some of these areas.

97 to 07 is the overall peak decade in America.

The steroid era was awesome.

It was, and I almost put it, but I also think it created a huge headache in the end. A bit of a deal with the devil for baseball that took a long time to recover from.

The 18 months where WCW beat WWF in ratings was peak America, brother.

96-98. Not a bad window at all.

Why is the bold part bad?
And the worst apps - all the social media apps, had been around for a decade or more.

I was saying that is a good decision by iPhone. It was the best the iPhone got without being ENTIRELY built around dopamine hits.

Public elementary school
there were maybe 3 or 4 kids who could do it and the rest of us felt like complete fat ugly losers.
looking back at yearbooks i noticed everyone (including me) was actually really fit..especially compared to today. crazy how much we've fallen as a society.
eta my bad. you said ELEMENTARY school. this was JUNIOR HIGH i was referring to.

St George Louisiana peaked back in the 90's

I don't have a reference point other than my own time there
quote:
Exterior vehicle design
1950s
quote:
Cell phones
2000s, when the flip phone was still king
quote:
Technology in general
2000s, when Windows XP was still around and you had CDs, flash drives, high speed home Internet, wifi all at the same time
quote:
Politics
1990s. Cold War over, no war on terror or surveillance state, peace and prosperity
quote:
NFL
2009
quote:
NBA
80s with Larry and Magic and the beginning for Jordan and Barkley
quote:
MLB
1960s. Clemente, Stargell, Mays, Aaron, Gibson, Koufax, Killebrew. No DH, no wild card. A lot of classic venues still in use. I'd pay good money to see a game in person from this era.
quote:
NHL
Late 80s/early 90s when they still had the good conference and division names. Prime Gretzky, Lemieux, Brett Hull, Jagr, Yzerman.
quote:
Nascar
Not sure, was never into it.

College sports
1990s before you had superconferences

Our Golden Age was betwen the Korean War amd the rise of the counter culture movement. Hippies ruin everything. Follows closely by the fall of the Soviet Union.
