I'm thinking the following:

1. rifle and tons of ammo
2. shotgun and tons of ammo
3. water purifying tablets
4. rainwater collection system
5. vegetable and fruit seeds
6. survival nutrition cubes to eat
7. blankets
8. solar powered radio
9. solar powered fans
10. lots of matches
11. lots of water filters

I believe with that list of items I could protect and feed my family. Guns are for both hunting and protection from the countless looters. I'm thinking How It Ends is a decent representation of what society would turn to.

With enough guns and ammo I can get anything else I need.

I've got a lifetime supply of Vienna Sausages. If I can supplement that with a bunch of saltine crackers and find somewhere that has drinkable water I'm good to go.

Yes, you all laughed when I kept subscribing to Playboy for all those years.

"Why pay for it when you can get it for free on the internet?" they jeered.

Yes, you all laughed.......but after the EMP, who'll be laughing then?

Big arse black iron pot and stand,

Giant sacks of rice and beans and dried veggies.
Seeds
Sacks of flour
Sacks of salt
Sacks of peppercorns
Mortar and pestle
My knives and my sharpeners.
Steel wool and scrubbers
Men have gotta eat, and you can stretch a little food into a lot of soup with the knack.

Supplement dry goods with in season herbs and vegetables and some wild game and no one is going hungry.

Why are there so many threads on this right now? That book is like 10 years old.

Federal government agencies have been briefing President Trump on the importance of the country being prepared for an EMP attack that will leave the country off the grid for 6 months to a year on two different occasions in recent months. Something's up.

Some knives especially a kukri.

Knives don't need to be reloaded and they are nice and quiet so when the kukri blade is splitting your soul it is too late for you to attack.

Seems to me our hive mind is preparing us for it.

I think a cyber attack shutting down shite would be more likely, but if we are talking ideal here.

I'd have a base set up in the woods somewhere near a river or stream. It would include 4 or 5 shelters so that multiple people will be able to live together so that I would have a small militia.

Each shelter would have cases upon cases of water bottles along with gallons of water. Each on would have can goods, MREs, protein bars. In the woods we could hunt for food and fish in the stream.

Each shelter will be filled with guns and ammo, knives and bows and arrows. Blankets. Solar powered lights, fams amd radio. A bunch of fire starters, ATVs with as much supply of gas as possible. Batteries for a power source. And dogs

EMP's are currently so expensive to make that the US Government is really only designing them as prototypes to test their own hardening efforts against them.

There's an offensive component to the testing of course. But it's mainly to defend. At this point, if you want to do real damage it's more cost-effective to use conventional explosives at power-generation stations in a coordinated effort.

Seriously. We're a long way from the large-scale viability of actual EMP's in terms of their feasible deployment as a viable weapon...and you know that nobody else is spending money on weapons like we are.
