re: Property Investing - Flooded homes in Central area? - GFunk
hawkeye007

stay far away from this type of investment. The market for 130k redone flooded homes is super small. Oneal place in baton rouge took 4ft of water. Gutted homes went for 30-50k they now have over 20 homes for sale in that subdivision in the 130-150k price range and the...

re: LSU Law Students attempt to Ban Steve Scalise as Graduation Speaker - GFunk
DeadFish

I think with that you have made my point as to why the speaker shouldn't be a political figure. Too much hostility towards politicians and too much irrationality in regard to politicians. Going all the way back to the Louisiana Governor and later Senator who, because of...

re: Property Investing - Flooded homes in Central area? - GFunk
If Comite Diversions Canal becomes a reality, the BFE in the Southern Comite and lower Amite Basins will definitely lower. So in a sense they may not ever flood as badly. But if August of 2016 happens again, it will Flood. No way around an event like that....
Isn't Louisiana passing a Remote Online Notarization bill this session? This is what people want so I wouldn't be putting all my marbles into this field from a brick and mortar standpoint.

MrLSU
HB 572 was voluntarily deferred. SB 358 made it out of Jud A and off th...

re: How much money can a Notary of the Public make a year? - GFunk
I’m a notary. I work part time as a side hustle. Mostly people in this thread don’t understand the different ways to make money using it. Never spent a dime on advertising. Make approximately 20% of my fulltime gig’s annual salary. Mechanics liens need to be released. Mortgages need to be closed...

I believe his father ran as a Republican for Senate against J Bennett Johnston after serving in both houses of the Louisiana Legislator as both a Democrat and Republican. Pappy is still a lawyer in NOLA and was a Catholic Leaguer. I believe he authored the LA Code of Evidence back in the late 80'...

re: Would you buy a (renovated) house that flooded in 2016? - GFunk
Areddishfish

I'm on the house hunt too. A lot of homes available in the Old Jefferson/Antioch area. I know the area took on some water, but I'm leaning towards banking on that being a once in my lifetime catastrophic incident. I'm thinking give it some more years and especia...

re: Comite River Diversion Canal Project - GFunk
So the Comite River is a tributary of the Amite River. The confluence (or where they meet) occurs to the East of Baton Rouge near the Highway 190/Florida Boulevard Bridge that connects Denham Springs to Baton Rouge. By implementing this project, the Lower Basin is hugely improved from a drainage...

Comite River Diversion Canal Project - GFunk
We've all heard about it. But how many of you understand its importance? I'm guessing many have heard the drum beats from local media about how folks have paid taxes for 30 years on it without any movement on it, and the US Army Corp of Engineers has been dragging its feet, there's no money, yadda, ...

Huge swing and a miss by Apple under Tim Cook. They’re being left behind by far cheaper products that-literally-just work far, far better... They’ve got the talent, deep pockets and know-how to compete with anyone in tech from a Products perspective...and they just face planted. Just a bad lo...
