1. 1969 blazer (fully removable top)
2. Early 80’s K5 blazer
3. 1978 bronco
4. Late 70’s international Scout
5. Early 90’s Land Rover defender 90
Those are the best. You could convince me of an old jeep but it’s after that list

I own one. A 1999. I’ll be parting with it soon.

Why?
I’ve always wanted to get my hands on one

If I had to drive an SUV it would be a G Wagon, Land Rover or a Macan.

It's got 260,000 miles on it and sits in my driveway most of the time. It needs some pretty good work on the steering to get it back to daily driver condition and some of the dash gauges and the 4x4 switch are problematic from the prior owner wiring in then taking out a 2 way radio. It does have the original engine in it that still runs strong. I used nothing but premium gas and synthetic oil after I bought it with 78,000 miles on it. It's on its second transmission.
I think the damn thing is haunted. It was my daily driver for a number of years and I took it on multiple hunting, fishing, and camping trips. I bought a 4Runner in 2012 and took it on its first camping/fishing trip. When I came home, I started unloading stuff in the driveway. I went inside and started putting stuff up and then I heard music playing. I thought it was my neighbor, but the same song kept playing. So I went outside, and the Tahoe, which was not on or running, was playing "You're the One" by Dwight Yoakem on repeat. His greatest hits CD was in the CD player. I had to go inside to get the key to start the Tahoe and shut it back down. That never happened before or since. After that, it also started having freak break downs or some days it just wouldn't start and neither I nor mechanics could find any problems with it.
That old house was haunted, too. That's a story I've told in other threads.
TL/DR: I've moved on to newer, more reliable, and less-haunted vehicles and houses.

What was your experience with the Gladiator?
Truck has been solid. Loud in the cab at highway speeds as expected. Stock suspension is too stiff for traveling at higher speeds on dirt/desert roads but good otherwise. Mojave would’ve been ok but I didn’t like the orange trim in the interior.

My 2004 Tahoe Z71 was my favorite vehicle I have ever owned.
Was a great vehicle for 17 years....

I have this exact color FJ cruiser and absolutely love it.
Only downside is it requires premium gas and the gas mileage

Per the Car Care Nut, the engine in the GX550 isnt the exact same engine, so he was less concerned about it. Also, based on current recall dates and Toyota’s willingness to replace all of Tundra engines, it would appear they resolved the issue in the last year, which aligns with the GX launch.
For those complaining about premium gas, if you’re willing to spend $80k on a vehicle, premium gas shouldn’t be an issue.

I like the 2024 Land Cruisers.
I don’t hate them. But I also saw a black one with a white top in person and I didn’t like it very much. It’s much smaller and than Land Cruisers before. It’s actually a lot like the FJ Cruiser. All the previous gen LC needed was CarPlay and a few minor updates and it would have been fine just continuing on.
Toyota doesn’t really have anything but the 4Runner that I really like. I like the new 4Runner a lot though. The Tundra is growing on me.
IMO the Sequoia should have been a lot better. It is a big disappointment.

I love the new Defender but I do not have the time to deal with the logistics of getting it repaired every month.

I just sold mine. Great vehicle for towing or highway driving with a large family, but a complete pain in the arse around town.

Good to know and makes sense as there’s no recall on the GX.
Not much of an issue anyway since it has more to do with debris in the engine than structural engine issues. Toyota replaces the engines impacted anyway which is proper way to handle it.

I love my GX550, but damn I miss my ‘21 LC200. I couldn’t pass up getting back what I paid for the LC, but I do miss it.
Same. I raw dogged my 2009 LX and it was still going strong at 225k miles. The GX is nice but not the high quality of my LX.
I still love my 80 series and will never get rid of it.

Entirely unrelated, but GM has spent a lot on EV development and they are missing out on an opportunity with a mid sized SUV.
A family member just got a brand new GMC Canyon 4x4. I was actually blown away with how well it could pull the trailer. It’s definitely better than my 4Runner in that respect. The tech is much better too.
I wish they made a Jimmy or Blazer off of that chassis. That would be a really cool 4Runner/XTerra style competitor, especially with the AT4x AEV setup.

I have an old gx470 I love. My next will be a mid 90s Bronco.
Wife needs a new family suv and we’re leaning 2022-2023 QX80. Terrible gas mileage but it checks off all the other boxes and is cheaper than a Tahoe. Proven powertrain as well.

Something came in my feed about some nutcase who bought a new Caynne and then whined about the maintenance and insurance costs.
Her solution:
"I'm trading it for a new Range Rover."
