We usually do several 4-7 day trips per year. Those probably average around 2k each, but that's not a hardline number, it could vary wildly.
What do you do for lodging? I feel like just renting a place or getting a hotel for 7 days is going to cost at least $1500.

ETA: is this with or without kids?

An oceanfront house in NC (Topsail Island)costs me $3,500+ a week in season. Add food, gas and alcohol, it's easily $5k per year for a week at the beach.

Statements like this confuse me. Is is really that hard to believe people have expendable money for things like vacations? Or set aside money to do things they enjoy with their family?

Nope, they're all in debt and financing.
nah some of us are super frugal and live in smaller houses and drive older cars to have extra $$ for travel

Drive to somewhere interesting, rent a cabin on a lake, fish/hike,

I’m interested in that no doubt, but I don’t care much for driving more than 6-7 hours or so and that really limits the kind of places like that. And in the summer those few places that aren’t too far away don’t do it for me.

We usually do 14/15 night vacations so for just the two of us it is usually 12-15k.

Lodging 3k
Airfare at least 3k
Food at least 3k
rental car 1.5k in car-friendly areas/countries
entertainment up to 5k
any shopping just goes up from there

Those shift around depending on the type of vacation in the area, some places don't have much great dining but they usually have more expensive adventure-type entertainment.

How long were you at Disney? I went down to Disney a few weeks ago with my two nephews and sister and we spent close to 5k between rooms, tickets and food. That was going down Friday night, parks Saturday/Sunday/Monday and driving back Monday.

Kids are small so we hit the beach every summer.

2.5-3k for 5-6 nights.

We have 1 kid, but she's only 1 years old.

When I say 2k, I'm really only including flights, lodging, and maybe a rental car if I have to go that route. Basically my upfront costs for the vacation. I'm not including daily spending while there, I don't typically keep track of that.
