For me, I was living a pretty normal and happy life. Then everything changed when the fire nation attacked

Always thought about moving out of LA. Never did until my wife got into graduate school. Can’t say if it weren’t for that instance that I ever would have left.

I pulled into the Marine Corps recruiting station on a whim my senior year of high school. Had never thought of enlisting before that. Must have a bad case of the frick it’s or something because a few weeks later I was on the yellow footprints at MCRD San Diego.

My Mom passing away when I was 6 years old. I have often wondered how my life would be different and how different of a person I would be if she had lived.

Deciding to play football my freshman year of high school. I was pretty shy, no self confidence, didn’t really have many friends, and struggled handling any criticism.

Turns out I was pretty decent at it, which gave me so much more confidence in all aspects of my life. Met some great friends and learned to better deal with adversity and pressure and developed a much better work ethic.

Probably moving to Louisiana from the Midwest when I was 19. This is definitely home.

I responded to a Craigslist ad in college looking for a trumpet player in a funk band. I ended up joining that band and met my future ex-wife at one of our gigs. Despite the fact that the relationship ended poorly, it was a fantastic decision that really put my life on a positive trajectory in many ways.

I decided to leave my career in construction and go to law school. Had I stayed, I would have had to move to Corpus Christie and would have likely stayed there for several years. Odds are, I would have still been there when that huge hurricane hit. I would have waaaaaaaaaaaay more money now though, that’s for sure. Part of me believes law school was a terrible financial decision, but I really did enjoy my time there for the most part, and I made a lot of great friends. I’m just really tired of being broke all the time and constantly searching for a real job.

2 things:

lost my job, so I decided to further my education and attend a graduate school. Has been a super career.

lost my son at an early age. Changed me as a person. Am real now, and really do not GAF about how I am viewed.

Decided at the last minute to go to Auburn.

This is not a rah rah football post.

It has nothing to do with sports. But all in my freshman year- I met my future wife of 25 years, met my college mentor who shaped me and convinced me to change my career path, and met my best friend of 30 years.
