For me, I do like where I live, although I’m guessing there’s a lot of great places in the country I’d feel the same way about if I ever gave them a chance. I like my job (which can’t be done remotely under normal circumstances) and we just bought a place, so that’s my reasoning.
couldn’t have said it better myself, in the same exact boat

Any thoughts on where you want to head?

I'm near the WA state coast. I have no reason to leave but one day would like to share time between AK and FL. Working on it.

Nothing. The wife and I could pick up and move at the drop of a hat.

Friends and family. It’s the only reason we live where we live. We could live anywhere, but my wife got a solid job opportunity out of school here. We’re open to moving anywhere if needed, but we are considering starting a family soon, so the friends/family element will play a large part in any decision about our location.

My job. If I could go remote full-time (been doing it for months already) I'm out of here. Been reading up about Idaho and a few other outdoor oriented locations.

Nothing. Not a single buddy of mine who’s kids graduate from LSU stay in the state. They ALL go to Texas for increased quality of life/opportunity. My job allows me to work from anywhere. Almost have my wife convinced to move to Wyoming. Lived there for a long time. No State income tax. 4% sales tax. Minuscule property tax. Rich in natural resources. Best schools in America. Worried she will wanna bounce after first winter though, they are brutal.

Nothing anymore. I've lived my entire life in LA, mostly Baton Rouge until the last 4 I've been in MOnroe.

Moving to NW Houston on August 1st. All I have really left to do is load the Uhaul. Using the Work From Home chance to leave LA and bring my employment with me until I hopeufully find something better relatively quick.

It was mostly work - the best companies in my industry have traditionally been centered in the 10 - 15 largest metro areas in the country, and I have/had to be located near a major airport. In addition to that, having a core group of close friends in the city + all the great things Chicago offers in normal times.

Covid + the riots + major spike in crime here this year + the impending financial doom the city faces have changed all that. We are leaving at the end of this summer. Most of my friends and some of my colleagues either left recently or are about to leave as well. I'll be working remotely for the foreseeable future, and when we do start traveling again to clients, my company has loosened up its approach to living situation. Our destination area is (much) warmer, safer, cheaper, and closer to family while still being big enough to have a lot of interesting things to do.

Money. But I’m working on it.

Also, now is not the best time to up and move without a job.
